GLOBAL LANDSCAPE FORUM RESTORATION STEWARDS PROGRAM

The Restoration Stewards program is a youth program rooted in care, landscape leadership, diversity, intersectionality and intergenerational equity. Launched in 2020 by the Global Landscapes Forum and the Youth in Landscapes Initiative, it aims to support the efforts of youth-led teams in holistically restoring their landscapes and seascapes while nurturing biocultural diversity.

ELIGIBILITY:

The program  will consider applications from anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 who is leading or working on a youth-led restoration project in any of the following ecosystems: forest, mountains, oceans, wetlands, peatlands, drylands or rangelands. Applicants must understand and be willing to adhere to and model the GLF vision, pillars and values.

Priority will be given to projects that:

Are led by a young person or a group of young people (aged 18 to 35) who are either local, Indigenous, or nationals of African, Asian, Latin American or Caribbean countries and are running projects in these regions; 

Have been running for a minimum of six months.

Please note that: 

You do not have to create a new project from scratch to be eligible; candidates are invited to build on restoration programs or projects that are already running. 

It would be beneficial if at least one person in your team is proficient in English, as many of the activities and opportunities provided through the program are currently in English. 

The GLF and YIL would especially like to encourage young women, Indigenous youth, rural youth and other underrepresented groups and identities to apply for this program.

BENEFIT:

The selected Restoration Stewards will receive mentorship from experts, as well as opportunities for professional and project development. They will also receive a grant of EUR 5,000 to further develop their restoration project while meeting the following objectives:

Set project-specific targets to be reached by the end of the year, with guidance from the mentors and GLF experts; 

Seek and carry out training activities to deepen the understanding of the landscape approach and other relevant topics; 

Run a minimum of one event to engage local communities; 

Coordinate with the GLF team to promote their project via social media 

Produce articles and other content for GLF platforms to deliver progress updates and showcase inspiring stories from their local landscape ; 

Meet with the GLF team and the mentors on a regular basis to discuss the project’s progres

SAIS FEMALE FOUNDER AWARD

 They are calling for exceptional female leaders in Africa with an innovative AgTech,  FoodTech or ClimateTech business to apply for the SAIS Female Founder Award  2024! The award recognizes visionaries who have achieved success in their fields, create social impact, and encourage other women to start or grow their own businesses.

ELIGIBILITY:

You are an African female who (co)founded and runs a start-up / growth stage business.

You should have technical experience in your area of operation.

You promote female visionary leadership, support other female leaders and contribute to women’s economic empowerment.

You are fostering a culture that values diversity.

Your work has a positive impact on solving an important problem in the industry.

You contribute to start-up ecosystem development.

Your start-up has a team of at least three people (including yourself as a founder) who work full time for the start-up.

Your product/service is digital or has a strong digital component.

Your product is offering an impactful solution in the AgTech, FoodTech or ClimateTech sectors in Africa.

Your business is registered and operates on the African continent.

Your business has an official certificate of registration.

Your company has been registered at least 2 years before submitting the application.

Your start-up Must have clear evidence of traction (customer base, revenue).

You have a unique value proposition in the market(s) where you operate.

Your start-up should have an understandable and convincing business model (clear problem statement and defined customer segment).

The award recognizes African female founders with unique businesses that have a strong digital component and embrace social impact. We honor, support and celebrate your ambition by offering unique opportunities for visibility and further development of your business.

The award ceremony for the SAIS Female Founder Award 2024 takes place at VivaTech in Paris on 22- 25 May 2024 in the form of a pitching competition. The three selected winners will be travelling to Paris to attend the event in person. Our prestigious jury will announce the winners’ rankings during an on-stage ceremony.

The three winners will win in-kind support worth up to 30,000€ for the first place, up to 15,000€ for the second place, and up to 7,000€ for the third place.
