INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAIN, NATURE AND ADVENTURE XXXV MEMORIAL MARIA LUISA PHOTO AND VIDEO CONTEST

The Maria Luisa Memorial is calling one more time, photographers and filmmakers, both amateurs and professionals, to the thirty-fifth edition of their contest. Mountain, nature, wildlife, mountaineering, climbing, landscape, underwater world, biodiversity, flora, extreme and adventure sports, etc. will be the reference of the edition in this contest one more year, not only in the photography categories but in the section dedicated to videos, films, and documentaries as well.

ELIGIBILITY:

All photographers and filmmakers who so desire, amateur or professional, may take part. All contestants will be able to submit a free first photograph to the contest; for the rest of the photos and videos, the participation fee for this year will be €22 (VAT included); for adult photographers, a single payment will allow competing in all categories including videos and films; for the novice-under-19 photographers, participation is free.

Irrespective of the support employed in their execution, the works will be presented as digital archives in JPEG format, preferably with colour profile Adobe RGB 1998 and must be 1,920 pixels wide in its largest side, and a maximum weight of 2 MB (72ppp), no addings such as frames, borders or foot notes allowed.

Each author may submit photographs in as many categories as he or she wishes, with a maximum limit of five photos for each category (5×14).

There are two different ways to submit the photographs and/or videos, any of the two can be used but not the two of them at the same time.

1st (Preferably) To enter, visit http://www.memorialmarialuisa.com/ and follow the instructions given in that site.

2nd (Subsidiary) Send your photographs by ordinary mail in a CD or a DVD or similar and include a card with your full name, postal address, telephone number, email address (very important), and a numbered list of the photo captions mentioning their titles, there will be a list per each Category.

To submit videos, the registration form must also be completed on the website http://www.memorialmarialuisa.com, indicating in the corresponding field the option used to send the files, which must be Wetransfer, Dopbox, Vimeo or any other platform suitable for sending or downloading heavy files, sent to the account certamen@memorialmarialuisa.com.

Videos and movies can also be sent from the platform https://filmfreeway.com/.

Finally, it is also accepted to send the files in physical format (DVD, USB memory, CompactFlash cards, SD, hard disk, etc.) to the postal address below

BENEFIT:

The Overall Winner of the “XXXV Memorial Maria Luisa” will be awarded a cash prize of €4.000 *, a trophy, a diploma, a book portfolio, and two invitations to the awards gala.

The Overall winner will be chosen from the fourteen category winners; the Jury will give the Prize to the most memorable & shocking caption.

Winner Prize of each category of photos: € 300, Trophy, Diploma, a book portfolio and two invitations to the awards gala.

Young Photographers Prize: It will be awarded to the best photograph submitted by contestants not having reached the age of nineteen years on 1st December 2024. It will consist of a Samsung 4G tablet, trophy, diploma, book portfolio and two invitations to the awards gala.

Special award for the theme of the year: it will be a Citizen BN0151Watch, trophy, diploma, a book portfolio and two invitations to the awards gala.

Award for best video, film, documentary of 35 MML. This prize will be endowed with a voucher worth €3000 *, which can be exchanged, directly and at the request of the winner, for products marketed by Foto Ruano, trophy, diploma, book portfolio and two invitations to the awards gala.

LOEWE FOUNDATION CRAFT PRIZE, AN INTERNATIONAL AWARD CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE IN CRAFTSMANSHIP.

The LOEWE FOUNDATION seeks to recognize uniquely talented artisans whose artistic vision and will to innovate set new standards for the future of craft.

ELIGIBILITY:

All participants must be professional artisans of 18 years or older at the time of the submission of entries. Entries may be made by an individual or collective (as a ‘group submission’). Businesses and mercantile companies of any kind are excluded. All nationalities are welcome.

Each participant can present either one single piece of work or one series of works, understood as a number of objects considered as a single artistic creation (henceforth, ‘the Work’). This should fall within an area of the applied arts and, as a guide, within the following categories: ceramics, bookbinding, enamelwork, jewellery, lacquer, metal, furniture, leather, textiles, glass, wood, paper, etc.

Materials and products outside the categories listed are not excluded; they may be accepted by the Experts Panel if they comply with the aim and requirements of the competition. Dangerous, prohibited or alive materials are excluded. All Works must:

Be owned by the participant, at all times, since its creation until the end of the License period,

Be an original one-off piece, handmade or partly handmade by the participant,

Have been recently created (in the last five years),

Have won no prizes previously,

Be innovative, in the sense that it updates tradition,

Demonstrate artistic intent,

Be able to travel and be installed by LOEWE and/or the LOEWE FOUNDATION.

BENEFIT:

The Prize for the winning piece of work is fifty thousand euros (50,000 euros). The winning entry can be made up of either one single piece of work or one series of works.

The Prize for the works awarded with a Special Mention is five thousand euros (5,000 euros), regardless of the number of Special Mentions granted.

Prizes will be subject to the withholding of the corresponding Spanish personal income tax (Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas, IRPF) in accordance with current legislation in Spain.

The works created by the Winner and Finalists will be included in the exhibition ‘LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2025’ (herein after ‘the Exhibition’) and its accompanying catalogue, on view in Madrid in the
spring of 2025 or any other location that LOEWE FOUNDATION may deem appropriate.
