CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR THE INITIATIVE FOR TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE IN AFRICA

The Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund (ATJLF) is pleased to announce this call to elicit proposals from civil society organizations, community-based and victim-led groups, working to advance truth, justice and reconciliation in countries emerging from conflict across Africa. This call is part of a European Union and African Union joint initiative, the Initiative for Transitional Justice in Africa (ITJA), a project launched in October 2023 and focused on the implementation of innovative transitional justice initiatives that are guided by principles and provisions of the Africa Transitional Justice Policy Framework (AUTJP) and its accompanying roadmap.

ELIGIBILITY:

Organizations will be eligible if they satisfy the following criteria:

A Registered civil society organization or community-based group operating in any of the priority African countries in this call;

Demonstrated experience in transitional justice, human rights, or related fields. · Have ongoing projects/Initiatives addressing specific needs within the scope of the call.

Must have at least three (3) staff members (including the Founder/Director)

Must have a functional bank account (corporate) in the country of operation

Must have a clearly defined operational structure – accounting processes and procedures, management structure, evidence of monthly/quarterly/semi-annual or annual financial accounting

Must be known or embedded in communities that have experienced atrocities or human rights violations and have strong connections and networks with victims, survivors and the community in which they operate.

Must already be working on human rights and transitional justice issues in the identified communities in the countries of focus

BENEFIT:

A maximum award of Fifty Thousand Euros €50,000 per grantee for qualifying CSOs/CBOs from the aforementioned countries. The exact amount of the award will be determined by the nature/scope of the proposed interventions.

LEAD2030 CHALLENGE FOR SDG 4 BY DELOITTE

Application Deadline: 1 March 2024

LOCATION: England

In line with Deloitte’s ambition to prepare 100 million futures for a world of opportunity by 2030, the challenge seeks to support scalable youth-led solutions that:

Utilize innovative approaches and technology

Address root causes of the issue

Demonstrate ability to drive impact and potential to scale

Recognize existing efforts and collaborate with others to accelerate impact

Facilitate opportunities for collective impact, by engaging a wide-range of stakeholders

Improve the quality of, or access to, education and skills training that prepares young people to succeed

ELIGIBILITY:

The challenge is open to young people from social enterprises, non-profits, or community organizations. Note: projects need to be based where Deloitte has a presence.

Aligned: Evidently aligned with the SDG4 challenge. See ‘About’.

Youth-led: Founded by a person aged 18 – 30.

Focused: Well-structured time horizon, identified key stakeholders and beneficiaries, and proposed outcomes that are reasonable and well thought out.

Proven:Solution is readily available, being piloted, implemented, or scaled

Impactful: Solutions must have a positive social impact, for example, generating educational outcomes, employment opportunities, or developing skills.

Measurable: Solution’s impact in society must be adequately measured and/or be measurable.

Financially viable: Must be able to achieve efficiency and to survive independently through the resources they generate and/or the investments and donations they attract.

Scalable: Potential to grow impact after expanding in scope or size and/or into other regions.

Sponsorship to participate in the One Young World Summit 2024

A US$50,000 grant from Deloitte

12 months of mentorship from a team of Deloitte professionals and partners. The mentorship team will work to accelerate your solution based on the needs of your initiative or organisation, such as:
