CERC MIGRATION GRADUATE STUDENT STIPENDS (MASTER’S AND PHD) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

CERC Migration offers a limited number of stipends to full-time Master’s students who are applying to study at Toronto Metropolitan University and PhD students in their final year of completion of their program, both studying a migration and/or migrant integration-related topic. Student recipients of the CERC Migration Graduate Student Stipend will be given a working space at the CERC Migration office, will be expected to participate in CERC Migration’s research training activities and workshops, and will be integrated into a vibrant research team of scholars and graduate students, enjoying a comprehensive scientific and professional development experience.

Statement of Interest/Letter of Intent from Master’s program application

CERC motivation letter (max 2 pages) stating that they wish to apply for the CERC Migration Graduate Stipend, why they should be given the Stipend, and how their research relates to at least one of the research themes outlined on the CERC Migration website.

If the candidate is accepted to the Toronto Metropolitan University Master’s program, their CERC Migration Graduate Student Stipend application will be considered.

Second-year incoming Master’s students:

Students entering their second year of a Toronto Metropolitan University Master’s program (see affiliated programs below) may apply for a CERC Migration Graduate Student Stipend. Excellence Completion Stipend

Candidates must be enrolled full-time in a Toronto Metropolitan University PhD program of interest (see affiliated programs below) as per the specific program’s guidelines and requirements.

Letter of reference from PhD supervisor that confirms that the applicant will finish their dissertation and will submit the final version to their department by the end of the 12 month period

BENEFIT:

Master’s: Up to $10,000. Available to first- or second-year Master’s students at Toronto Metropolitan University

PhD: Excellence Completion Stipends: Up to $25,000 for the final year of a student’s Toronto Metropolitan University PhD program. Students must complete their thesis and apply for graduation by the end of the funded year. Available to current PhD students in a Toronto Metropolitan University PhD program.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS: AU-EU YOUTH LAB REPRESENTATION GRANTS

Are you a youth-led organisation or group supporting initiatives led by or benefiting underrepresented and marginalised youth? This is a grant supporting initiatives led by underrepresented and marginalised youth in Africa with the overall goal of enabling young people to deliver the change they want in their communities. 

ELIGIBILITY:

To apply for a Representation Grant, your organisation must meet the following requirements:

Youth led organisations or groups focusing on either underrepresented or targeting the marginalized youth.

The organisation or group must have young people between 15 – 35 years as the decision makers, founders or at least co-founders must be under 35 years of age.

At least 75% of the staff must be under the age of 35 years

Must be registered youth-led group, CSO, networks, alliances, collectives

Your organisation or group must be based in one of the 12 African countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia (Somaliland region), Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The organisation or group must be active at the grassroot, sub national, national, sub regional and regional.

BENEFIT:

Size of the grants

The Representation Grants’ current first cohort are between 10.000 and 20.000 EURO.

Funding Period will be 12 -15 months.

Up to 20 grants will be awarded in this first call for proposals.
