THE WORLD CONGRESS OF ANAESTHESIOLOGISTS (WCA) 2026

WFSA is offering scholarships for the World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA) 2026, made possible through generous donations from partner organisations and individuals. The 19th World Congress of Anaesthesiologists will take place in Marrakech, Morocco, from 15-19 April 2026. WCA is the only truly global anaesthesiology congress, representing 130+ countries and offering a diverse scientific programme with 20 focused tracks tailored to sub-specialties in anaesthesiology and critical care. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must be: 

Anaesthesiologists who have completed their training within the last five years 

Be members of their National Society of Anaesthesiologists  

Be from a low- or middle-income country. 

Have at least a basic understanding of English to ensure full engagement during the congress. 

Be a first-time scholarship recipient (i.e., not having previously received a WFSA scholarship) 

Preference will be given to: 

Early-career anaesthesiologists. 

Applicants working in teaching hospitals. 

Applicants who have submitted an abstract for WCA2026. 

Applicants are strongly encouraged to present their scholarly project at the congress. Abstracts must be submitted on the WCA website before 30 September 2025. 

Required Documents:  

Curriculum vitae/resume. 

A letter of motivation. 

Medical degree certificate. 

Anaesthesia qualification certificate.  

A letter of recommendation from your workplace. 

A letter of recommendation from your National Anaesthesiology Society. 

A copy of your passport biodata page (must be valid at least until October 2026)

PULITZER CENTER ACE MICRO GRANTS 2025

The Pulitzer Center’s Africa outreach program is launching the Africa Climate and Environment Micro Grants, or ACE Micro Grants, a call for outreach proposals for local movements in Africa to apply with innovative ideas for climate and environment outreach activities that clearly and creatively integrate Pulitzer Center stories.

ELIGIBILITY:

Types of organizations: This micro grant is intended for grassroots organizations, civil society organizations and coalitions, youth movements, and other groups working on issues relating to the intersection of climate and labour, the environment, journalism, civil rights, and active citizenship in Africa.

Capacity for collaboration: A track record of co-creating impactful projects with other organizations and operational capacity to manage micro-grant resources from an international organization.

Alignment with key issues: Proven experience working on the identified topics (climate change, the rainforest, the ocean, and transparency and governance). 

Affiliation or past experience with the chosen target: Direct connection with the chosen target (young professionals or impacted communities), either through membership or through evidence of past experience of collaboration.

BENEFIT:

Grants range from USD $2,500 to USD $3,000. We expect projects to be implemented and concluded within four months of approval (please see the timeline below).
