SOUTHERN CROSS UNIVERSITY: AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT RESEARCH TRAINING PROGRAM (RTP) DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP 2026

Research Training Program scholarships are provided by the Australian Commonwealth Government and Southern Cross University. 

They are offered to high-achieving domestic and international research candidates.

Applications for the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) for 2026 are now OPEN.

Please note the revised closing date of 31 October 2025. 

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for an Australian Government RTP Scholarship Stipend, an applicant must be a domestic or an international student enrolled in an accredited course of study at an Australian Higher Education Provider

An applicant will not be selected for an Australian Government RTP Scholarship Stipend unless the University is satisfied that the candidate meets the scholarship eligibility criteria as well as the admission requirements of the award in which they are applying to enroll.

Applications will only be considered where the documentary evidence is complete and sufficient

Applicants must confirm prior to submitting an application for a scholarship that they have suitable proposed supervisors who are both willing and eligible to supervise the applicant should they be successful in being awarded a scholarship.

Australian Government RTP Scholarship Stipend (International): Unless the Dean of the Graduate School approves an alternative commencement date, scholarship recipients should normally commence no later than 30 September in the year of the award. Scholarship recipients are expected to enroll full-time on campus.

Recipients of scholarships must have their enrollment accepted by the University and must maintain continuous enrollment until submission of the Thesis (excepting approved periods of interruption). If these conditions are not met, the Scholarship will lapse.

BENEFIT:

Successful candidates are awarded a full tuition offset and a living allowance, which may be indexed annually.

EDITH COWAN UNIVERSITY MINERALS RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA (MRIWA) PHD SCHOLARSHIPS 2026

The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA) is a state government agency which provides funding into minerals research which delivers value to WA. Part of their remit is to provide a range of competitive scholarships to support exceptional candidates pursuing postgraduate research in any research topic relevant to the minerals industry in Western Australia. Their PhD scholarship recipients explore a range of topics from a variety of disciplines, from investigating psychosocial capital in the mining workforce to decarbonisation in steelmaking.

Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA) offer 4 types of scholarships:

MRIWA Odwyn Jones PhD Scholarship open to all applicants including domestic and international students, and is offered to the highest ranked PhD candidate

MRIWA PhD Scholarship for Women open to women PhD applicants

MRIWA PhD Scholarship open to all PhD applicants including domestic and international students

MRIWA Indigenous Postgraduate Research Scholarship open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Postgraduate students.
