At TU Delft a number of scholarships are available for excellent international applicants. Justus & Louise Van Effen Excellence Scholarships are financed by the legacy of Justus and Louise van Effen. Mr. van Effen studied at TU Delft in the 1940s and strongly believed technological developments will contribute to solving societal issues.

The Foundation Justus & Louise van Effen was established with the aim of stimulating excellent international MSc students and financially supporting them in their wish to study at TU Delft.

ELIGIBILITY:

You are an excellent international applicant (conditionally) admitted to one of the 2-year regular TU Delft MSc programmes (not an International Joint Education Programme).

Students must have achieved excellent academic results in their previous study programme(s), which must be relevant to the Master’s programme for which they are applying. As an indication, the student is amongst the top 10% of graduates in his/her previous study programme. Note that proof of ranking is not required—this information is purely to indicate the level of competitiveness.

You have submitted a complete MSc application before the scholarship deadline.

Students who have been granted a scholarship will be informed by TU Delft via email by the end of March 2026.

Receiving the scholarship is conditional on the student fulfilling all admission criteria.

BENEFIT:

Full tuition fees per year for a TU Delft MSc programme based on the statutory fee or institutional rate, according to the registered nationality, AND contribution for the living expenses.

PHD POSITION IN CANNABIS SEX DETERMINATION PROGRAM AT SOUTHERN CROSS UNIVERSITY

LOCATION: Australia 

This Australian Research Council-funded project aims to characterize the monoecy trait in detail, using genetic, physiological and functional genomic approaches; and to exploit the resulting knowledge for improved development and control of sex expression in hemp.

They are currently seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to focus on quantitative genetic and functional genomic aspects of the project.  The successful candidate will map quantitative trait loci to identify genes responsible for monoecy in hemp and characterize the role of ethylene signaling in monoecy trait expression.

ELIGIBILITY:

Meet the entry requirements to enroll in a PhD at Southern Cross University on a full-time basis, including a bachelor’s degree (Hons, 2nd class or above) or a master’s degree with a relevant research component or an equivalent higher research degree in biogeochemistry, environmental science, limnology or marine science.

Demonstrated strong analytical, scientific writing, and communication skills (in English).

Applicants whose first language is not English are also required to meet English Language Proficiency requirements (an International English Language Test Score (IELTS) Academic (or equivalent) equal to or above 7.0, with a minimum of 7.0 in writing and no other band less than 6.5).

Additional experience:

Experience with establishing mapping population, crossing and backcrossing

Experience with genomics, transcriptomics, and/or proteomics.

Experience with statistical analyses and programming (e.g. R).

Scholarship: This position is fully funded at the RTP rate ($34,315 per annum—2026 rate indexed annually) for three years and three months. The scholarship is tax-free and paid in fortnightly installments.
