FULLY FUNDED ERASMUS MUNDUS JOINT MASTER’S IN MANUFACTURING 4.0 (META 4.0)

Programme Details: The programme is structured around a series of mobility periods over the two years and across 5 European sites (France, Germany, Norway, Italy, and Slovenia), ensuring at least 2 mobilities according to the scheme presented below:

During Year 1, all meta4.0 students will be first welcomed in France, in Saint-Etienne, at the end of August and will participate in the integration events, including the introduction of all the partners and the flow of their study, seminars given by invited speakers, an intensive French course, team-building activities, and a field trip (visit to some key companies of the region).

During Year 2, the students will specialize in one of the key Manufacturing 4.0 topics and conduct their Master thesis. Semester 3 will start at the end of August. The cohort will be distributed equally between the four specializations, with a minimum of 5 students in each degree-awarding university. At the beginning of semester 2, presentations of the specialization tracks will be given to inform the students about the different possibilities and content. Students will have to express their interest for three of them by the middle of March.

ELIGIBILITY:

Eligible applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree, equivalent to 180 ECTS, with an average grade of ‘B’ or higher on the ECTS grading scale, and have completed at least three years of study in one of the following fields:

Mechanical Engineering

Materials Science & Engineering

Or potentially Mechatronics

The applicants will be asked to provide, in the application forms, documentation proving their participation in a minimum of 135 face-to-face hours of teaching in mathematics or related subjects such as statistics or probability, applied mathematics, optimization, numerical analysis, differential equations, numerical methods, or scientific computing techniques.

These prerequisites must be fulfilled at the time of administrative enrollment. Applications from students in the last year of bachelor’s or equivalent study programmes will be accepted conditionally: Graduation must be confirmed before 31 July of the corresponding call.

English Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the language by providing a valid score from one of the following internationally recognized tests:

IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in each competency,

TOEFL result with a score of about 600 on the paper-based test/250 on the computer-based test/95 on the internet-based test,

A minimum CEF level of B2 or Cambridge English First (FCE)—Grade A or B;

TOEIC 800: The results provided must not be older than 2 years at the time of the application.

Applicants who have completed their studies in English in a school/university in which the medium of instruction is English, only if based in one of the countries listed below, are eligible to apply without submitting a test result. Applicants must confirm their English Proficiency by an official letter from their university.

In Europe: Cyprus, Malta, United Kingdom, Ireland

In the Pacific: Australia*, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand*, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu

School/university in which the medium of instruction is English and issued by the USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand, wherever the school/university is located.

The top 100 applications, with no more than 10 students of the same nationality, will be rigorously assessed by two independent evaluators from different universities within the consortium. 

BENEFIT:

This Joint Master programme has been established as a complementary branch of the existing degrees offered by the six participating universities.

The consortium will thus deliver 6 national diplomas issued by 6 higher education institutions from 5 European countries

Throughout the 4 cohorts of the meta4.0 programme, a total of 90 scholarships will be available as follows:

60 scholarships will be available for Programme and partner countries.

3 scholarships will be available for IPA Partner countries

27 scholarships will be available for NDICI Partner countries

The Erasmus Mundus scholarship includes

Scholarship lump sum of 1.400 €/month for 24 months for subsistence, student travel, and accommodation costs for the entire programme;

Coverage of all participation costs for the 4 semesters: tuition fees, library and laboratory costs, and any other mandatory costs related to the student’s participation in the Master study programme;

Insurance package, i.e., health insurance, according to the EACEA regulations.

Students whose country of residence is one of the Erasmus+ Partner countries will not receive the Erasmus Mundus scholarship for periods spent in this country. The country of residence is defined at the enrollment stage (« stable residence in the months before enrollment »).
