INTERNATIONAL COMPUTER SCIENCE COMPETITION

The ICSC is a global computer science program that blends education with friendly competition, preparing students today for the technological world of tomorrow.

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to all students. Participation is free.

Middle school, high school, and university students of all grades and from all countries are invited to participate. They have three age categories:

Junior: 10th Grade and below (< 16 years)

Youth: 11th to 13th Grade (< 19 years)

Senior: 1st Year College/University and higher (or ≥ 19 years)

You need curiosity, a drive to learn, pen and paper, and access to a computer. English reading comprehension is helpful for research problems. More Details

Process:

Participants face a mixture of conceptual problems and programming problems over three increasingly challenging rounds:

Qualification Round: Solve five problems across various topics at your own pace.

Pre-Final Round: A supervised exam covering more advanced problems and a research paper that is shared during the exam preparation phase.

Final Round: A fast-paced 30 online exam, consisting of multiple-choice, short-answer, and coding problems on previous rounds and further advanced concepts.

All participants receive the same set of problems, but the passing criteria vary by age group. See All Rounds

The Qualification Round features five problems that cover foundational concepts, logic, and introductory algorithms. Some problems require an abstract explanation of the solution, while others involve the writing of code.

Each problem is worth 5 points. To advance, participants must achieve a minimum score of 15 points for the Junior division, 17 points for the Youth division, and 20 points for the Senior division. Participants are encouraged to show their work, express themselves creatively, and produce efficient algorithms. Outstanding submissions receive special recognition.

THRIVE PHILANTHROPY SEED GRANT

The Seed Grant funds initiatives outside the USA that accelerate alternatives to industrial animal agriculture, create plant-rich food systems, and/or increase access to or awareness of nutritious plant-based foods. They invite applicants from any country in the world except the USA.

ELIGIBILITY:

Proposals that accelerate alternatives to industrial animal agriculture, create plant-rich food systems, and/or increase access to or awareness of nutritious plant-based foods.

Aligns with Thrive Philanthropy’s safespace policy.

Outside the United States and/or are not an international chapter of a US-based organization.

Applicants must consistently demonstrate a positive reputation with their stakeholders and community and be able to contribute to Thrive Philanthropy’s positive reputation.

For African applicants—have received an invitation or previous grant.

Not a for-profit company.

They are currently prioritizing organizations with a budget less than $500,000 USD.

Special Note for Africa-Based Applicants:

Due to an exceptionally high number of proposals coming from Africa, African proposals are accepted by invitation only or by previous grantees.

The Seed Grant is geared toward new or small-scale organizations, one-time projects, conference sponsorships, individuals without nonprofit status, or applicants that haven’t received a grant from Thrive in the past
