WORLD PRESS INSTITUTE INTERNATIONAL JOURNALISM FELLOWSHIPS

Each year, WPI selects top international journalists for an immersive program that explores the US media, culture, politics, and issues of the day. The chosen finalists represent some of the best journalists in their respective countries. They are innately curious, intelligent, and ambitious, and they approach journalism with a deep sense of dedication and responsibility.

ELIGIBILITY:

At least five years of full-time employment in print, broadcast, or online journalism, including:

News or editorial departments of newspapers, wire services, radio, television, websites, or online publications.

Photojournalists, editorial cartoonists, columnists, and broadcast producers.

Those who supervise journalists are eligible if they also have at least five years as a working journalist.

Any journalism-related work completed as a university student does not count toward experience. Those who work in public relations or at organizations whose primary business is not the media are not eligible.

Must be currently employed as a non-U.S. journalist working outside of the United States.

Fluency in both written and spoken English.

Potential for leadership.

BENEFIT:

WPI pays the following program expenses:

Transportation: Roundtrip airfare to the United States.

Travel within the United States related to the WPI program.

Lodging: The World Press Institute provides comfortable lodging for journalists during an immersive program.

Food: Fellows receive a modest daily allowance to purchase food.

Note: Fellows are responsible for personal expenses, such as phone, camera, postage, and clothing.

UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE HERCHEL SMITH RESEARCH PHD STUDENTSHIPS

The Herchel Smith Research Studentships are among the most prestigious awards offered at the University of Cambridge, supporting outstanding PhD candidates in organic chemistry and related areas of the molecular life sciences.

Award holders join a vibrant academic community of fellows and students, with opportunities to engage in regular events and network across disciplines. As part of the programme, students may also apply to the Harvard University Lab Exchange programme, spending two to three months on a research project that broadens and enriches their academic experience.

There is no separate application process for these studentships. Eligible candidates applying for PhD study in relevant departments are nominated by their departments, and awards are made on the basis of academic excellence.

Successful applicants will be asked to submit a final report towards the end of the studentship.

The Herchel Smith PhD students are required to engage with events organised as part of the community, including presenting their research findings during the annual symposium with Harvard University.
