WAGENINGEN UNIVERSITY AFRICA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

The Africa Scholarship Programme (ASP) offers talented and motivated students from Africa the unique opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree at Wageningen University and to support capacity building in Africa.

ELIGIBILITY:

You are a citizen of an African country.

You have applied for one of the master’s programmes of Wageningen University & Research before the given deadline. Please see: How can I apply for the master’s programme?

You are unconditionally admitted to this MSc programme.

You are an excellent student with a First-class honours degree and a GPA of 80% or higher in a bachelor’s degree program.

Preference is given to students who have not obtained a master’s degree
yet.

Only if you meet all of the above-mentioned requirements can you be eligible for an invitation to the Africa Scholarship Programme selection procedure.

Travel to and from The Netherlands

Living allowance for the duration of the programme (24 months)

Tuition fee coverage for the duration of the programme (24 months)

Visa costs and costs for health insurance

A budget for one seminar in Europe (travel, stay, registration fee)

LEIDEN UNIVERSITY EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP (LEXS)

For excellent students joining a full-time Leiden University Master’s degree programme – with the exception of all Humanities programmes and of LLM (non-advanced) and MSc programmes at Leiden Law School.

ELIGIBILITY:

Study programme requirements:

Applicants for all Master’s programme at Leiden University, with the exception of :

Humanities programmes

Leiden Law School’s LLM (non-advanced) and MSc programmes.

Study programs starting in September at the Faculty of Sciences and Leiden Law School.

Nationality requirements:

Applicants must have a non-EEA/non-EFTA* passport, and may not be eligible for student finance via the Dutch government (Studiefinanciering) – with the exceptions of students applying for the programmes listed below for which no nationality restrictions apply:

All LLM Advanced Studies programmes

MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy

Academic requirements: Students must have achieved excellent academic results in their previous study programme(s), which must be relevant to the Master’s programme for which they are applying. As an indication, the student is amongst the top 10% of graduates in his/her previous study programme. Note that proof of ranking is not required – this information is purely to indicate the level of competitiveness.

Obligations: Students who are granted a LExS must comply with, and confirm in writing, their agreement with the Terms and conditions attached to the scholarship prior to the awarding of the scholarship.

The LExS is not a full scholarship. Non-EEA LExS recipients must still submit ‘proof of sufficient funds’ for their student visa/residence permit application.

Be aware that Leiden University only has around 25 LExS scholarships available and each year over a thousand students apply for this grant.

BENEFIT:

The LExS is awarded for the duration of the study programme. There are three available levels of awards:

€ 10,000 of the tuition fee

€ 15,000 of the tuition fee

Total tuition fee minus the statutory tuition fee
