AYF FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

LOCATION: Japan

The AYF Fellowship is a 9-month live-in working program on Awaji Island, Japan at the home of the Awaji Youth Federation, Manabi no Sato. It provides selected Fellows with the opportunity to challenge themselves and hone their individual skills in a multicultural environment that reflects both the needs of the Japanese workplace and the opportunities that come with a flexibly structured and stimulating `learning by doing` structure.

ELIGIBILITY:

Experience: You’ve got 2-3 years of experience in one of our Fellowship focus areas. You thrive in startup environments and fast-paced settings, and you’re ready to take your skills to the next level.

Age: In principle, you’re between 24-30 years old and ready to dive into this exciting opportunity. Individuals are assessed on merit, however we do not consider that the Fellowship is an appropriate opportunity for people aged 35 and above or. Those with significant  family and marital commitments should inform the Secretariat upon applying.

Education: You hold a Bachelor’s degree or above as a legal requirement for the working visa, and showcasing your commitment to continuous learning and growth.

Language Skills: You’re fluent in English (TOEIC 800 or equivalent), and if you’ve got a handle on Japanese (JLPT N1-N3), that’s a huge plus!

BENEFIT:

Monthly Salary (Base salary + Overtime):JPY 197,000

Government Taxes, Pension and Insurance fees will be deducted

Japanese class fees will be deducted

UNIVERSITY OF ESSEX AFRICA POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

Application Deadline: 14 July 2024 (for October 2024 start) or 13 October 2024 (for January 2025 start)

LOCATION: United Kingdom

If you’re an international student from a member state of the African Union and are self-funding your postgraduate studies, you could be eligible for a scholarship of £4,500, paid as a discount on your first year’s tuition fee.

ELIGIBILITY:

These scholarships are restricted to students who are overseas fee payers and are entirely self-funded*.

Students must be ordinarily resident (see below for the definition of ordinary residence) in a member state of the African Union.

Applicants must have been awarded an undergraduate degree (this includes integrated Masters degrees) with the grade specified or above. A higher Masters grade cannot be taken to compensate for a lower Bachelors grade;

Students must register at the University of Essex in October 2024 or January 2025 for the first year of a full-time Masters course in academic year 2024-25 only, leading to the degree of: ̶ MA, MSc, LLM, MRes, MPP, MBM

These scholarships may be awarded to applicants who have completed relevant school or university studies in one of the specified countries above.

The award cannot be held in conjunction with any other University of Essex scholarships. Students who are eligible for this award and are joining Essex through a link agreement, which includes a discounted fee, will receive the award which is greater in value.

This scholarship is available for the first year of Masters study at Essex only;

Successful applicants should be available for promotional activities. 

Nigeria: CGPA 3/5 or above or CGPA 2.50/4.0, or 4.00/6.00 or 4.00/7.00
OR A pass grade for Medical Degrees awarded by an approved Nigerian Institution

Ghana: 2:1, or CGPA 3.0/4.0 or above or CGPA 3.5/5.0

Other member states of the African Union: 2:1 or above (or equivalent as defined by our Postgraduate Admissions selection criteria)
