DAAD IN-COUNTRY/IN-REGION MASTERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA

The programme aims at fostering strong, internationally oriented higher education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa with the capacity to contribute to sustainable development. For this purpose, scholarships for development-related Wählen Sie ein Element aus. studies are awarded to individuals who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or research at a higher education institution in SubSaharan Africa.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants for a Master’s degree

The In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme supports studies in subject areas with strong relevance to national development. The scholarships at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology are available in the following field:

Master in Food Science and Technology

graduates with a first academic degree, who have successfully completed generally a three-year university degree with above average results (at least: Second Class/Upper Division or equivalent, if applicable). Candidates who cannot provide a Second Class/Upper Division or a higher result are non-applicable;

clearly show motivation and strong commitment;

have thorough knowledge of the language of instruction;

 have generally completed their last university degree not more than 6 years ago at the time of application;

must be nationals or permanent residents of a Sub-Sahara African country;

should generally be a) staff member of a public university, b) or a candidate considered for teaching or research staff recruitment, c) or from the public sector and/or d) Alumni of the DAFI-programme. Female applicants, refugees with recognized refugee status and candidates from other less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate in the programme. Please note: If you have already received a Master’s scholarship from the DAAD, further Master’s funding from the DAAD is not possible.

SI SCHOLARSHIP FOR GLOBAL PROFESSIONALS

Application Opens: 12 February, 2024. Deadline: 28 February, 2024

LOCATION: Sweden

The Swedish Institute awards academic scholarships for master’s studies to global professionals from 41 countries. The online application portal for the SI Scholarships for Global Professionals will open on 12 February for the academic year 2024/2025. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Be a citizen of one of the 41 countries that is eligible for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals; (Armenia; Azerbaijan; Bangladesh; Bolivia; Belarus; Brazil; Cambodia; Cameroon; Colombia; Ecuador; Egypt; Ethiopia; Gambia; Georgia; Ghana; Guatemala; Honduras; Indonesia; Jordan; Kenya; Liberia; Malawi; Moldova; Morocco; Myanmar (Burma); Nepal; Nigeria; Pakistan; Peru; Philippines; Rwanda; South Africa; Sri Lanka; Sudan; Tanzania; Tunisia; Uganda; Ukraine; Vietnam; Zambia; Zimbabwe)

Apply for a master’s programme that is eligible for the SI scholarship;  

Be liable to pay tuition fees at University Admissions;  

Have demonstrated work experience; 

Have demonstrated leadership experience from current or previous employer, or from civil society engagement.  

To begin with, apply for a master’s programme at universityadmissions.se, by 15 January 2024. Once you have submitted your application for master’s programme(s) at universityadmissions.se, you will get a personal application number consisting of eight digits. Save the number as you will need it when applying to the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals.

After you have completed your application to a master’s programme, you can apply for an SI scholarship. You must submit the required documents digitally through the online application portal from 12 February 00:01 until 28 February 2024 14:59 CET.

BENEFIT:

The Scholarship for Global Professionals is a competitive fully-funded scholarship that includes: 

Full tuition fee coverage. The fee is paid directly by SI to your Swedish university in the beginning of each semester.

A monthly payment of SEK 12,000 to cover your living expenses throughout the study period.

Insurance against illness and accident.

A travel grant of SEK 15,000 (*10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine). This is a one-time payment and does not apply for students already living in Sweden.

Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) – a platform to help you grow professionally and build a network while in Sweden.

After your scholarship period has ended, you become a member of the SI Alumni Network. As a member, you get a unique opportunity for continued networking and professional development.
