AFRICAN UNION CIVIC TECH FUND 2.0

The African Union Civic Tech Fund (AUCTF) presents an opportunity for dynamic African initiatives to catalyse and scale their innovative civic tech solutions. If you are harnessing the power of technology to drive citizen-led transformative action across the African continent, this call is for you.

ELIGIBILITY:

Invitation is open to visionary organizations, initiatives, and projects within African countries to apply for funding.

If you are committed to leveraging technology for civic engagement, transparency, and

community-driven initiatives, this call is tailored for you. Organisations and projects led by and

addressing the challenges faced by women, youth and marginalised groups are encouraged to apply.

Projects operating from diverse locations and contexts are also encouraged to apply, to ensure a balance of representation from north, east, west, central and southern Africa.

BENEFIT:

Successful recipients of the grant call will receive up to €15000 in financial support to scale and accelerate their projects and initiatives. The AUCTF can support up to 15 organisations and initiatives. However, the selection committee reserves the right not to award all or envisaged grants. Upon receiving the funding, the second cohort will undergo capacity building and technical support, which includes training sessions to enhance digital literacy, promoting inclusivity and diversity in your
initiatives; stakeholder engagement approaches and developing advocacy strategies to influence policy at a local level.

CENTER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS, UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA LLM/MPHIL (HUMAN RIGHTS DEMOCRATISATION IN AFRICA) FULL/PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

The LLM/MPhil in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa (HRDA) is a prestigious one-year intensive course where 25-30 exceptional individuals spend six months in Pretoria and six months at one of the 12 partner universities all over Africa. They are taught by eminent lecturers in the field of human rights and undergo many practical training exercises. It is the only course of its kind in Africa.

ELIGIBILITY:

African Union and the United Nations. Individuals from all African countries are invited to apply for admission to study for the Master’s degree (LLM/MPhil) in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa at the Centre for Human RightsUniversity of Pretoria, South Africa.

For Law Students (LLM Option): Must hold a degree allowing access to the legal profession (e.g., LLB or licence en droit).

For Non-law Students (MPhil Option): Must have at least an Honours degree in a discipline relevant to human rights and democratization.

BENEFIT:

A limited number of up to 30 students are selected per year. Depending on the availability of funding, full-scholarships covering at least tuition, accommodation and official programme activities are covered for up to 25 citizens of Africa. Students who do not receive scholarships may be admitted as self-funding or partially-self funding students, provided they meet all the minimum admission criteria and provided they guarantee payment of all or at least a significant part of tuition, accommodation and official programme activities, to an amount set by the Centre annually.
