MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL ROAD TO RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP

The Macquarie Master of Research provides thorough research-relevant training for candidates interested in shorter research projects or pursuing a research career.

Macquarie University:

will rank candidates on the basis of Weighted Average Mark, or Grade Point Average if you graduated before 2020 or received your qualification/s from a university other than Macquarie. Scholarships will be awarded to the top ranked applicants

assesses overseas qualifications using Australian Government guidelines to determine their comparability to qualifications on the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

ELIGIBILITY:

Awards will only be available to applicants who, at the time of application:

are not an Australian/New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident

are onshore in Australia at the time of application

intend to reside in Sydney, Australia during their candidature

plan to undertake a Master of Research in January 2026 (S1 2026)

are enrolling as full-time students

meet the English language requirements for Macquarie graduate research degrees

meet the admission criteria for the Master of Research (refer to schedule 2.3)

have confirmation of supervision from an eligible Macquarie University researcher (compulsory for FMHHS and desirable for the other faculties)

International applicants will need a valid Student Visa in order to commence their program. If they do not have a valid Student Visa, they may commence their study on an alternative Australian visa type that permits full time study until the end of June 2027.

BENEFIT:

The scholarship comprises:

a tuition fee offset for a maximum of one year

a living allowance stipend of $39,700 for one year.

CHARLES DARWIN UNIVERSITY RESEARCH TRAINING PROGRAM (RTP) HIGHER DEGREE BY RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS

The 2026 Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship round has now opened. Applications for domestic applicants closes on 31 October 2025, while international applications close on 30 September 2025. Successful applicants will commence their Higher Degree by Research at CDU between 12 January and 27 March 2026.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must: 

Be a domestic or international student*.

Meet CDU’s academic and English language entry requirements.

Be a current Higher Degree by Research (HDR) student** in their first year (FTE) of candidature or have a CDU offer for CDU HDR admission to commence in 2026.

Submit a complete RTP scholarship application by the advertised closing date.

Not be receiving equivalent financial support from another source for HDR studies. 

Domestic students are Australian citizens, permanent residents or New Zealand citizens); International students are all others that do not fit those criteria.  

At CDU HDR programs include Doctor of Philosophy and Master by Research only. 

BENEFIT:

Australian Government RTP Stipend Scholarships are awarded to students of exceptional research potential to undertake an HDR at an Australian university and are not automatically granted to all students. The scholarships are provided to assist with general living costs.

AU$34,190 (2025 rate) per annum tax-free for full-time students, paid in fortnightly instalments.

AU$17,095 (2025 rate) per annum, taxable, for part-time students, paid in fortnightly instalments.

Three years full-time for a doctoral degree and two years for research Master’s degree. 

You must be enrolled in an accredited HDR course of study at an Australian Higher Education Provider (HEP) and demonstrate exceptional research potential to undertake an HDR.

You must not receive income from another source to support your general living costs while enrolled in a course of study if that income is greater than 75% of the RTP stipend rate.

Please note income unrelated to your course of study or income received for your course of study but not for the purpose of supporting general living costs is not considered.
