IUPAC-RICHTER PRIZE – CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

LOCATION: Italy

The prize is to be awarded to an internationally recognized scientist, preferably a medicinal chemist, whose activities or published accounts have made an outstanding contribution to the practice of medicinal chemistry or to an outstanding example of new drug discovery.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants should be received by NOMINATION only, with just one person needing to serve in that capacity, although a total of five (5) individuals should be listed as referees overall. The package must be submitted electronically and should contain a complete resume, a professional biography of not more than two pages, and a one-page summary of what the individual considers to be their activities, accomplishments and/or publications that have had the most significant impact upon the field of Medicinal Chemistry. The material will be forwarded confidentially to an independent selection committee appointed by the IUPAC Subcommittee on Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Development.

THIEME–IUPAC PRIZE– CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The Thieme Group in collaboration with IUPAC and the Editors of SYNTHESIS, SYNLETT, SYNFACTS, and Science of Synthesis announce the Thieme-IUPAC Prize for 2024. This award is presented every two years on the occasion of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry – International Conference on Organic Synthesis (IUPAC–ICOS).

ELIGIBILITY:

The 2024 prize will be awarded to a scientist who must be no older than 42 years of age on Jan. 1, 2024. This means that all candidates who would have been eligible for the 2022 Prize, which was suspended due to Covid, will be considered eligible for the 2024 Thieme-IUPAC Prize.

The candidate’s research must have had a major impact in synthetic organic chemistry.

The prize will be awarded based on scientific merit for independent research dealing with synthesis in the broadest context of organic chemistry, including organometallic chemistry, medicinal and biological chemistry.

Proposals must be accompanied by:

a biographical sketch of the nominee

a list of the candidate’s ten most significant publications

a statement of how the candidate’s research has had a major impact on the field of synthetic organic chemistry

The material will be confidentially forwarded to an independent selection committee.
