ANNE HART SCHOLARSHIP AT KU LEUVEN

The Anna Hart Scholarship underscores their dedication to fostering exceptional talent. Each year, the Faculty grants partial tuition fee waivers to outstanding students from a variety of countries. Our aim is to foster an inclusive learning environment by offering financial support, empowering students to pursue their educational aspirations.

The selection will be based on a combination of academic performance (first criterion), nationality (priority given to least developed countries) and motivation, based on your cover letter.

The student should do two things to be considered as a candidate for the Faculty of Arts Scholarship:

For a valid application, the candidate must have applied for both the programme and a scholarship before the above-mentioned deadline. All conditions have to be met at the time of selection (no ‘conditional acceptance’). Applicants can only be awarded the scholarship if they are accepted into the programme for which they have applied

Selection timetable:

1 March 2025: Scholarship application deadline

31 May 2025: Selection of scholarship holders

End of June 2025: Notification of selected students 

    BENEFIT:

    For the 2025-2026 academic year, these students will only have to pay the reduced fee of € 1,425.7, instead of the normal fee of € 4,445.6 for MA programmes or € 2,277.7 for Advanced MA programmes. This discount cannot be converted into a cash grant.

    KU LEUVEN INSPIRING THE OUTSTANDING SCHOLARSHIP

    KU Leuven is committed to making higher education accessible to students from all backgrounds, regardless of their financial circumstances. Therefore, the University has established a fund for donations from the global KU Leuven community to award scholarships to outstanding students who wish to pursue one of our programmes.

    ELIGIBILITY:

    Study level: Master’s programmes and Advanced Master’s programmes

    Eligible program(s): All Master’s and Advanced Master’s programmes at KU Leuven (full list)

    Eligible Nationalities: All nationalities are eligible

    Academic performance: The student has a high level of academic performance and potential. Excellent study results are reflected in a high Grade Point Average (GPA), as shown on the transcript of records. Preference is given to students with excellent study results.

    Language proficiency info: Applicants whose first native language is not English must demonstrate an excellent knowledge and command of English, regardless of the minimum score required by the programme. Accepted English language tests are TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge CPE. Preference is given to students who have a very good command of English and exceed the minimum scores.

    Academic awards: Applicants will be asked to provided information about any academic awards they may have received.

    Programme requirements: applicants will be evaluated on the specific programme requirements and to what extent they exceed the requirements.

    Motivation: the highest ranked students will be required to provide a short 1 minute motivation video, explaining how they feel they can make a difference in their field and society as a whole.

    BENEFIT:

    Tuition fee waiver: The Inspiring the Outstanding Scholarship holders receive a full tuition fee waiver and pay only an annual administration fee. The fee for the 2025-2026 academic year will be announced in December 2024 (for reference, the fee in 2023-2024 was €131.50). 

    Scholarship coverage: Incoming students receive a scholarship of €12,000 per academic year (max. 2 years).

    Duration: Tuition fees are waived for the full duration of the programme (max. 2 years).
