KU LEUVEN BORGHGRAEF SCHOLARSHIP

The Borghgraef Scholarship is awarded to excellent students who wish to study on our Master of Bioethics programme. The one-off grant is meant not only to alliviate the financial burden of pursuing higher education, but also to reward the recipient for their motivation and excellence, particularly in the field of bioethics. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Eligible nationalities: All countries

Eligible programme(s): Master of Bioethics (Leuven) 

Target audience: Master’s programmes

Study results: Candidates will be assessed on the basis of their grades. Preference will be given to students with excellent study results.

Letter of motivation: Candidates must write a strong letter of motivation explaining why they want to study the Master of Bioethics and why they are the right candidate to receive the scholarship.

All students wishing to apply for the scholarship must do two things:

Submit the pre-registration form for the Master of Bioethics.

Apply for the Master of Bioethics.

There are two mandatory forms for this scholarship:

Pre-registration formform for both the programme and the scholarship

Application form: application form for the Master of Bioethics via the application portal

For a valid application, all conditions must be met by the above-mentioned scholarship deadline. This means that candidates must have submitted a complete application file for both their chosen KU Leuven study programme and the scholarship before the above-mentioned scholarship deadline.

Selection timetable:

31 March 2025: Deadline for applications.

April – May 2025: Selected students will be notified by e-mail. 

October 2025: Awarding of scholarships.

The selection will be based on a combination of academic performance (first criterion), nationality (priority given to least developed countries) and motivation, based on your cover letter.

The student should do two things to be considered as a candidate for the Faculty of Arts Scholarship:

For a valid application, the candidate must have applied for both the programme and a scholarship before the above-mentioned deadline. All conditions have to be met at the time of selection (no ‘conditional acceptance’). Applicants can only be awarded the scholarship if they are accepted into the programme for which they have applied

Selection timetable:

1 March 2025: Scholarship application deadline

31 May 2025: Selection of scholarship holders

End of June 2025: Notification of selected students 

    BENEFIT:

    For the 2025-2026 academic year, these students will only have to pay the reduced fee of € 1,425.7, instead of the normal fee of € 4,445.6 for MA programmes or € 2,277.7 for Advanced MA programmes. This discount cannot be converted into a cash grant.
