COIMBRA GROUP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS FROM SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA

Universities of the Coimbra Group offer short-term visits (generally 1 to maximum 3 months) to young African researchers from higher education institutions from Sub-Saharan Africa. The main aim of this scholarship programme is to enable scholars to undertake research in which they are engaged in their home institution and to help them establish academic and research contacts in Europe.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must fulfil ALL of the following criteria at the same time:

Be born on or after 1 January 1979.

Be nationals of and current residents in a country in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Be current staff members of a university or an equivalent higher education institution in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Be preferably of doctoral/postdoctoral or equivalent status.

Be in possession of an acceptance letter/email from the tutor/supervisor with whom the work programme
will be undertaken in the host institution. This document is mandatory.

Use the Coimbra Group Office electronic application process.

Apply for one university only. Multiple applications will not be considered valid.

Submit all information in English only.

BENEFIT:

The scholarships are financially supported by the Coimbra Group member universities participating in this programme, while the Coimbra Group Office is in charge of the administrative management of the
applications.

OPEN CALLS: EUROPEAN MARINE BOARD EMBRACING THE OCEAN ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAMME

The aims of the programme are to raise societal awareness of the Ocean’s value and inspire behavioural change for a sustainable future, while contributing new insight and/or perspectives to the scientific research. APPLY NOW!

ELIGIBILITY:

The programme is open to creative individuals/groups from a wide variety of artistic disciplines. Both emerging and established artists will be considered by the committee. Prior experience in co-creation with scientists and/or communities and working on sustainability topics is desirable. Applications are welcome from across the world, and from a wide range of creative disciplines, including but not limited to:

visual arts (e.g. drawing, painting, filmmaking, photography, sculpting, digital arts, installation art);

literary arts (e.g. fiction, drama, poetry, storytelling);

performing arts (e.g. dance, music, theatre); and

traditional and indigenous arts.

BENEFIT:

Two awardees will be selected for the 2024 – 2025 programme and each will be awarded a grant of €10,000. The grant will be paid periodically throughout the 12-month residency on completion of planned deliverables.
