UNIVERSITÄT KONSTANZ ZUKONNECT FELLOWSHIPS FOR SCHOLARS FROM AFRICA, ASIA AND LATIN AMERICA

The Zukunftskolleg Konnect Fellowships support early career researchers from Africa, Asia and Latin America, who do research that fits to one of the thirteen departments at the University of Konstanz. As a ZUKOnnect Fellow, you can use this time to extend your research networks and to get to know the research environment at the University of Konstanz while keeping your position at home.

ELIGIBILITY:

You were born AND work in a country in Latin America, Asia or Africa.

You hold a doctorate (max. 2 years, doctoral degree granted after 15 February 2023) OR are a doctoral student in your final year.

Your doctorate was/ is going to be completed at a university in Latin America, Asia or Africa.

You do not hold a permanent professorship, nor do you have a habilitation or equivalent qualification (Venia legendi).

Your research project should tie in with one of the disciplines represented at the University of Konstanz.

Track A: You should name a researcher at the University of Konstanz with whom you intend to collaborate (no need to contact person(s) in advance!).

Track B: Nomination by one (Junior) professor of the University of Konstanz

Preference will be given to applicants who plan to team up with one of our current Zukunftskolleg Fellows or within the Cluster “Politics of Inequality” or “Collective Behaviour”.

Preference will be given to fellows from countries not represented in our community

BENEFIT:

During the on-campus research stay, a stipend of € 1,300/month for doctoral students and € 2,000/month for postdoctoral researchers (following DAAD guidelines).

Standard expenses for one economy-class trip to Konstanz and back.

The chance to participate in events organized by the Zukunftskolleg.

Access to library resources.

Access to IT services.

Access to research support services (via Research Support).

up to 750€ research allowance upon request

Research Return Visit by a member of University of Konstanz to your home institution upon request.

ZUKOnnect Fellows will benefit from a digital affiliation extending the total period to 12 months. The digital affiliation will be supported with up to € 900 (lump sum).

German language course (online and on site to be confirmed for 2025).

Career Kit Plus – weekly series of seminars and workshops offered by the University of Konstanz staff members or external trainers (e.g. open access, good practice in academic writing, career perspectives, funding opportunities, but also sight visits and other encounters) Programme for 2025 to be confirmed.

“Fellows go Local” – ZUKOnnect meetings with fellows, staff, PhD students  in town, helping to adjust in the local region supported by the Universitätsgesellschaft Konstanz.

THE 2024 CALL FOR APPLICATIONS TO UNESCO’S INTERNATIONAL FUND FOR CULTURAL DIVERSITY

UNESCO is launching the fifteenth call for applications to the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD). Through an open and competitive process, projects will be selected based on their ability to generate concrete and lasting results towards the development of the creative sectors in developing countries that are Parties to the 2005 Convention. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Project proposals should contribute to:

The implementation and/or elaboration of policies and measures that have a direct, structural impact on the creation, production, distribution and access to a diversity of cultural goods and services;

The strengthening of capacities in public institutions and civil society organizations to support viable local and regional cultural industries and markets.

Public institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from eligible countries are invited to submit their proposals, as well as international NGOs registered in countries that are Parties to the 2005 Convention.

Through the IFCD’s 2024 call for applications, UNESCO renews its commitment to strengthening the cultural and creative industries in developing countries, as fundamental pillars for protecting and promoting cultural diversity, encouraging creativity and innovation, and for building a more sustainable world.  The IFCD has invested more than US$ 11.5 million through 152 projects in 71 developing countries.
