WORLD JUSTICE CHALLENGE

The World Justice Challenge is a global competition and program of supporting activities to identify, recognize and promote good practices and impactful initiatives that protect and advance the rule of law. Organized by the World Justice Project (WJP), the Challenge compiles a crowd-sourced evidence base for rule of law solutions, raises their strategic visibility, and strengthens an emerging network of rule of law champions. The 2024 World Justice Challenge theme is “The Rule of Law Foundation of Democracy”. This year’s Challenge competition seeks to identify, promote and support changemakers who are pursuing effective strategies for strengthening the rule of law to reverse autocracy and rebuild trust in democratic governance.

ELIGIBILITY:

The competition is multidisciplinary and open to organizations worldwide, including, but not limited to: non-profits; social entrepreneurs; media; national and multilateral government agencies; local government bodies; businesses/private sector enterprises; bar associations; law firms; foundations; and academics from any country or territory in the world.  Collaborative entries among several organizations are welcome. Each applicant may not submit more than two entries

WJP will select 30 finalists from the applicant pool. The five winning initiatives that represent the most promising approaches for strengthening democracy and rule of law will be selected in the following manner:

Four winners will be chosen by a committee of experienced judges

A fifth winner will be selected by a network of finalists from previous World Justice Challenge competitions

BENEFIT:

Winners will each receive a cash prize of USD $20,000.

Additionally, all finalists will be profiled on WJP’s website and social media to promote the visibility of their projects. All finalists will also be invited to join the World Justice Challenge Alumni Network for ongoing networking, partnership, and learning opportunities to support their work.

ILLINOIS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Illinois Wesleyan is awarding merit scholarships for international students. Students who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents are considered international students and are adviced to apply.

Official, verified copies of test scores, transcripts, and English proficiency results must be sent by the test agency or by a school counselor/official to: international@iwu.edu. Illinois Wesleyan does not accept these materials directly from students.

IWU Application or Common Application (there is no fee or preference for either application)

Official copies of your academic records from all secondary schools and colleges in which you are currently enrolled or have previously attended. Transcripts should include the most recent 3 years of grades. Academic records need to be in English and notarized.

English Proficiency Exam. IELTSTOEFLGTECDuolingo English Test, or PTE scores are accepted. IWU accepts MyBest scores for the TOEFL, in addition to TOEFL scores from a single test date. Minimum test scores are required for admission: IELTS 6.5 band score, TOEFL score of 80 iBT (Internet-based), Duolingo English Test score of 115, PTE score of 56. Scores more than two years old will not be accepted. English proficiency waivers available if eligible (currently in US for school, coursework primarily taught in English)

Family Financial Statement. IWU practices a need-sensitive admissions policy for international students. Upon meeting the required financial contribution of $15,652 USD per year, applications are evaluated without further consideration of ability to pay (need-blind).

Photocopy of your passport in .jpg or .pdf format should be emailed to: international@iwu.edu. Please notify us if you do not have a current passport. This will not delay consideration of your application for admission.

Essay

Standardized Test Scores.  Submit ONE of the following: SAT or ACT.We do not require any SAT Subject Tests.

There is no application fee.

BENEFIT:

These awards range from $16,000 to $30,000 per year and are renewable for up to four years. Students who complete the admissions application are automatically considered for scholarships.
