AMERICAN UNIVERSTITY OF BEIRUT MASTERCARD FOUNDATION SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program provides full scholarships in partnership with the American University of Beirut (AUB). The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program ​aims to prepare young people to be agents of change in their communities, countries, and regions. Scholars attend a series of workshops, courses, and fieldwork in addition to the courses for their degrees.

ELIGIBILITY:

On-campus masters’ scholarships are open to: Citizens of countries on the African Continent, Citizens of Lebanon, Refugees living in Lebanon or on the African Continent

Good academic standing in the previous degree

Talent that exceeds financial resources​

Commitment to giving back to the community, country, and region

Leadership skills

Commitment to attend all the additional learning experiences and workshops required by the Scholars Program

35 years or younger

Demonstration of Readiness for University Studies in English (RUSE) by April 21, 2024.

TWAS SIWEI CHENG AWARD IN ECONOMIC SCIENCES

Application Deadline: 31 March 2024

LOCATION: Italy

With funding from the Siwei Cheng Foundation of the Education Foundation of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the award will recognize economic scientists who have been living and working in a developing country for at least 10 years. The cycle of the Award is now every two years. The award reflects the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ strong support to TWAS and, more generally, seeks to build scientific capacity in the developing world. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Candidates for the TWAS-Siwei Cheng Award in Economic Sciences must be economic scientists who have been living and working in a developing country for at least ten years immediately prior to their nomination. They must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

Scientific research achievement in economic sciences of outstanding significance for the development of scientific thought.

Outstanding contribution to the application of economic sciences to sustainable development.

Members of TWAS are not eligible for the award.

Self-nominations and nominations from jury members will not be considered.

TWAS is inviting nominations from all its members as well as science academies, national research councils, universities and scientific institutions in developing and developed countries.

Nominations can only be submitted electronically through the on-line nomination platform and clearly state the candidate’s contribution to understanding and addressing economic sciences.

Nominations of women social scientists and candidates from scientifically lagging countries are particularly encouraged.

BENEFIT:

An award of US$10,000 is given in the field of Economic Sciences.

The award is accompanied by a medal.

The award will be presented on a special occasion, often coinciding with the General Conference of TWAS.
