2026 GLOBED ERASMUS MUNDUS MASTER’S PROGRAMME – ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND GLOBAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

GLOBED is designed to offer a scientific and theory-oriented study program on a high academic level with a strong emphasis on project work intended for highly motivated graduates who have already successfully completed a first-cycle degree.

The program has been selected for another round of funding under the Erasmus+ framework for the 2023-2029 period, which means that students who apply along the next four intakes will have the possibility to opt for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship as well.

GLOBED will grant Erasmus Mundus scholarships for the next four editions. However, the Consortium highly encourages students interested in joining the program to check all the potential scholarships available in their origin countries and elsewhere.

ELIGIBILITY:

A bachelor’s degree title in educational sciences or in any other relevant field (preferably in sociology, social/cultural anthropology, political sciences, human geography, or international relations).

The degree program should last a minimum of three years and correspond to 180 ECTS.

Examples of Fields Eligible for Admission to Our Program:

Educational Sciences: This field of study focuses on education as an academic discipline, encompassing its theories, practices, policies, and research. Degrees in Educational Sciences are characterized by their interdisciplinary nature, drawing on insights from psychology, sociology, philosophy, and history to analyze and enhance educational systems and learning processes. Graduates with this background bring a comprehensive understanding of how education impacts individuals and society, making them ideal candidates for our program.  Example.

Socioloy: Applicants holding a degree in Sociology are encouraged to apply. Sociology is a discipline that examines the structure, development, and dynamics of societies, focusing on how social institutions, relationships, and cultural norms influence human behavior and interactions. This field equips graduates with advanced analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of social systems, inequalities, and the broader societal factors that impact education and learning. The interdisciplinary foundation of sociology aligns seamlessly with the objectives of our master’s program, preparing graduates to engage critically with complex educational challenges and contribute meaningfully to the field.  Example.

A minimum grade average of 7/10 (or the equivalent of a C), or a GPA of 2.75/4.

High English language proficiency to be demonstrated through Secure English Language Test (SELT) result at the required levels.

Proficiency in English may be certified by one of the following SELTs:

TOEFL: a score of at least 90 with a writing score of at least 24 in the writing section.

Cambridge Proficiency Examination Advanced Certificate: at least a pass at grade C1 or better.

IELTS (Academic): at least 7.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each element and 6.5 in the writing section.

Copy of a valid passport.

An up-to-date Europass CV, presenting the skills and qualifications of the candidates in a clear way.

Official copies of diplomas and transcripts in the original language as well as English or Spanish translations detailing subjects studied (ECTS or hours), grade per subject, and overall grade.

A letter of motivation explaining your background and reasons for applying to the program (maximum one page).

Students with special needs may be eligible for additional contributions if they meet the general eligibility conditions. To qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Eligible Students: Contributions must support enrolled students (with or without a scholarship) who have a certified long-term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairment. Certification must be provided by a competent national authority, and the impairment must be significant enough to require special items or services to enable participation in the program.

No Duplicate Funding: The requested special needs items or services must not already be covered by another source, such as social security or health insurance.

Accurate Unit Declaration: The number of declared units must reflect the actual special needs support required for program participation.

Important Note:
Requests for costs below the minimum threshold (EUR 3,000) will not be eligible for additional support. Such expenses must be covered either through the institutional cost contribution of the EMJM or other funding sources available to the beneficiary institutions.

FULLY FUNDED ERASMUS MUNDUS JOINT MASTER’S IN MANUFACTURING 4.0 (META 4.0)

LOCATION: Multiple Regions in Europe

Programme Details: The programme is structured around a series of mobility periods over the two years and across 5 European sites (France, Germany, Norway, Italy, and Slovenia), ensuring at least 2 mobilities according to the scheme presented below:

During Year 1, all meta4.0 students will be first welcomed in France, in Saint-Etienne, at the end of August and will participate in the integration events, including the introduction of all the partners and the flow of their study, seminars given by invited speakers, an intensive French course, team-building activities, and a field trip (visit to some key companies of the region).

During Year 2, the students will specialize in one of the key Manufacturing 4.0 topics and conduct their Master thesis. Semester 3 will start at the end of August. The cohort will be distributed equally between the four specializations, with a minimum of 5 students in each degree-awarding university. At the beginning of semester 2, presentations of the specialization tracks will be given to inform the students about the different possibilities and content. Students will have to express their interest for three of them by the middle of March.

ELIGIBILITY:

Eligible applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree, equivalent to 180 ECTS, with an average grade of ‘B’ or higher on the ECTS grading scale, and have completed at least three years of study in one of the following fields:

Mechanical Engineering

Materials Science & Engineering

Or potentially Mechatronics

The applicants will be asked to provide, in the application forms, documentation proving their participation in a minimum of 135 face-to-face hours of teaching in mathematics or related subjects such as statistics or probability, applied mathematics, optimization, numerical analysis, differential equations, numerical methods, or scientific computing techniques.

These prerequisites must be fulfilled at the time of administrative enrollment. Applications from students in the last year of bachelor’s or equivalent study programmes will be accepted conditionally: Graduation must be confirmed before 31 July of the corresponding call.

English Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the language by providing a valid score from one of the following internationally recognized tests:

IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in each competency,

TOEFL result with a score of about 600 on the paper-based test/250 on the computer-based test/95 on the internet-based test,

A minimum CEF level of B2 or Cambridge English First (FCE)—Grade A or B;

TOEIC 800: The results provided must not be older than 2 years at the time of the application.

Applicants who have completed their studies in English in a school/university in which the medium of instruction is English, only if based in one of the countries listed below, are eligible to apply without submitting a test result. Applicants must confirm their English Proficiency by an official letter from their university.

School/university in which the medium of instruction is English and issued by the USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand, wherever the school/university is located.

The top 100 applications, with no more than 10 students of the same nationality, will be rigorously assessed by two independent evaluators from different universities within the consortium. 

BENEFIT:

This Joint Master programme has been established as a complementary branch of the existing degrees offered by the six participating universities.

The consortium will thus deliver 6 national diplomas issued by 6 higher education institutions from 5 European countries

Throughout the 4 cohorts of the meta4.0 programme, a total of 90 scholarships will be available as follows:

60 scholarships will be available for Programme and partner countries.

3 scholarships will be available for IPA Partner countries

27 scholarships will be available for NDICI Partner countries

The Erasmus Mundus scholarship includes

Scholarship lump sum of 1.400 €/month for 24 months for subsistence, student travel, and accommodation costs for the entire programme;

Coverage of all participation costs for the 4 semesters: tuition fees, library and laboratory costs, and any other mandatory costs related to the student’s participation in the Master study programme;

Insurance package, i.e., health insurance, according to the EACEA regulations.

Students whose country of residence is one of the Erasmus+ Partner countries will not receive the Erasmus Mundus scholarship for periods spent in this country. The country of residence is defined at the enrollment stage (« stable residence in the months before enrollment »).
