MILEAD FELLOWS PROGRAM: FOR EMERGING AFRICAN WOMEN LEADERS

Are you an exceptional young African female leader, determined to make a difference? The 2024 MILEAD fellows program is your chance to shine!

The MILEAD Fellows Program is a bold and paradigm-shifting initiative committed to the long-term leadership development of promising young leaders selected as Fellows. Fellows benefit from a combination of training, experiential learning, and mentoring crafted to build knowledge and skills, strengthen networks, and facilitate a supportive ecosystem of women’s leadership on critical issues. 

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for the program, an applicant must be African, living on the continent or in the Diaspora; agree to participate in allrequired activities related to MILEAD – beginning with a three-week residential Summer Institute in Ghana; and commit to a community change project. If you’re a passionate emerging African woman leader ready to create a positive impact, we want you to apply! We’re seeking dynamic young women aged 19-25 interested in honing transformational leadership skills to tackle issues facing women and girls in African communities.
The program features a three-week residential Summer Institute in Ghana and a community change project. Selected candidates may be full-time students or professionals during the program, except during the 3-week summer institute.

BENEFIT:

The program will be granted to 25 outstanding young women who have demonstrated leadership potential in their community, organization, or profession.

The fee for 2024 MILEAD Institute is $4,500 and covers travel, accommodation, tuition, all meals, site visits, local events, training materials, and program related costs.

LEAD2030 CHALLENGE FOR SDG 3 SUPPORTED BY ASTRAZENECA

LOCATION: Canada

Through the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3, they will be granting US $50,000 to a small, innovative, youth-led non-profit organisation which aims to solve the climate and health challenges facing young people today.

 They invite a wide range of ideas, which could range from developing youth climate advocacy capability and health awareness, promoting carbon-friendly solutions to address health equity issues, support climate-health entrepreneurship, targeting food waste and enabling healthy diets, and beyond.

ELIGIBILITY:

Nationals of all eligible countries may apply for this scholarship.

A young leader (aged 18-30) working for, or leading, a non-profit organisation with drive and determination to make the world a healthier place for people.*

Applicants must demonstrate a positive impact related to leading climate/health equity projects benefitting youth (aged 10-24).

Access to the internet and a device (computer, phone) that will allow them to participate in live, online Fellowship sessions – this will not be provided to Fellows.

Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing) 

Ability to fully participate in-person, at the One Young World Summit (18 – 21 September 2024) in Montreal, Canada. 

Ability to commit to a one-year Fellowship program and attend at least 75% of modules/activities. 

Ability to lead and manage the implementation and reporting of the non-profit project funded through the Fellowship. 

Applicants must be founders or leaders of registered non-profit organisations that meet the following criteria:

Have been registered and operational for at least three full years. 

Have had a total reported income in the last financial year of more than USD$100,000 and less than USD$2,000,000.

12 months of mentorship from a team of AstraZeneca professionals and partners. The mentorship team will work to accelerate your solution based on the needs of your initiative or organisation, such as:
