EPFL MASTER EXCELLENCE FELLOWSHIPS (ROUND 2)

LOCATION: Switzerland

In order to reward the most outstanding students who are beginning their master’s studies, EPFL offers a limited number of excellence fellowships, along with guaranteed housing, to candidates who have achieved remarkable academic results and who distinguish themselves in extracurricular activities, whether sporting, artistic, civic, or entrepreneurial.

ELIGIBILITY:

Anyone applying to a master’s program at EPFL is eligible. A limited number of fellowships are awarded to the most deserving candidates, based on academic excellence, qualifications, and motivation.

However, candidates who already hold a master’s degree or are currently enrolled in a master’s program at EPFL are not eligible.

Applications should be submitted via EPFL’s online Master application. Be sure to check the box indicating that your profile should also be considered for an excellence fellowship.

Documents to provide:

No additional documents are needed beyond those required for admission.

The application deadlines align with those for the master’s program. There are two application rounds. 

Deadlines:  2nd round: March 31

The renewal and payment of the fellowship for a second year of studies is conditional upon excellent academic performance.

At the end of the first year, once the results are published, fellowships are renewed provided that fellowship holders have:

Reached at least the average of 5.0 (6 = max / 4 = pass).

The average is weighted with the ECTS credits of each course. All numerical grades from all chosen courses and exams during the first MA year count for the average.

Earned at least 50 credits (for branches other than the internship)

Credits for language courses, admission courses, or courses outside of the study plan do not count.

There will be no exceptions for students who have not reached the requested average or number of credits.

BENEFIT:

Amount: CHF 10,000 per semester, with a maximum coverage of 4 semesters.

Additional Benefits:

Reservation of a student room in a student residence (for external candidates only).

A certificate of excellence upon completion of the Master’s program.

DUTCH MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS ENTERPRISING FUTURES SCHOLARSHIP 2026

LOCATION: South Africa

Applications are now live for the 2026 cohort of Enterprising Futures scholars.

They are looking for forty of the most trailblazing, impactful entrepreneurs who are leading or part of a scalable start-up or small- to medium-sized enterprise with social or environmental impact. Applicants must apply through the application portal below.

ELIGIBILITY:

Candidates must be:

Aged 18 – 35 by the date of the One Young World Summit 2026 in November.

Leading or part of a scalable start-up or small- to medium-sized enterprise (SME), with demonstrable social and/or environmental impact, either as an entrepreneur or in a similar role.

Nationals of and residents of one of the following countries: Ethiopia, Jordan, Lebanon, Mozambique, Uganda, Tunisia, Palestine, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Benin, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, South Africa, Burundi, Iraq (including Kurdistan region of Iraq), Sudan, Mali, Algeria

All candidates will be required to have a working understanding of English, as both the One Young World Summit and Enterprising Futures pre- and post-programmes will be held in English.

Candidates must be available to join the programme full time between 30 October – 7 November, as well as pre- and post-programme dates.

Enterprising Futures Scholars will receive:

Access to additional events organised by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the pre-programme.

Access to the One Young World Summit 2026, taking place from 3 to 6 November in Cape Town, South Africa.

Hotel accommodation for the duration of the pre-program and summit dates.

One night of hotel accommodation (if required) for the visa application process.

Return travel from your country of residence to Cape Town (flights in economy).

Domestic travel costs to the airport to take the international flight.

Visa costs, if applicable (including the visa application fee and required travel for visa appointment).

Catering which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the pre-programme and the Summit.

Transport between the Summit accommodation and the Summit venue.
