Applications for full scholarships for on-campus master’s (thesis and non-thesis tracks) and PhD programs at the American University of Beirut for Fall 2026-27 are now open. The deadline for application is March 12, 2026. The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program aims to prepare young people to be agents of change in their communities, countries, and regions. Scholars attend a series of workshops, courses, and fieldwork in addition to the courses for their degrees.
ELIGIBILITY:
On-campus master’s scholarships are open to young people who are:
Citizens of countries on the African Continent
Citizens of Lebanon
Refugees living in Lebanon or on the African Continent
PhD scholarships are open to:
Citizens of countries on the African Continent
Refugees living on the African Continent
35 years or younger
Strong academic standing in their previous degree
Talent that exceeds financial resources
Demonstrated leadership potential and commitment to community engagement
Commitment to attend additional learning experiences and workshops required by the Scholars Program
Demonstration of Readiness for University Studies in English (RUSE) by May 31, 2026.
Tests that you can submit: AUB-EN test, TOEFL IBT, IELTS (Academic), GRE (Verbal), GMAT (Verbal), or DUOLINGO English Test (DET).
To apply:
Step 1: Complete an AUB online graduate application and upload supporting documents by the deadline.
Step 2: Select the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program under the Financial Opportunities section of the online graduate application.
Step 3 (not required for PhD): Complete the AUB Financial Aid Application, which will be accessible after you submit your online graduate application.
IMPORTANT NOTE: For an application to be considered complete, applicants must have completed (1) the AUB online graduate application and (2) the AUB Financial Aid Application.
