ROTARY FOUNDATION GLOBAL GRANTS

Global grants support large international activities with sustainable, measurable outcomes in Rotary’s areas of focus. By working together to respond to real community needs, clubs and districts strengthen their global partnerships.

ELIGIBILITY:

Both the district or club in the country where the activity is carried out and the international partner district or club must first become qualified before applying for a global grant. Learn more about the qualification process and grant management. Your club and district Rotary Foundation chairs can help you plan how to use your District Designated Funds and learn how to qualify your club.

Submitting a successful grant application

Consult with local experts early in the planning process to build a strong project plan and global grant application. The district resource network (see below) can help.

To be approved, your application must clearly describe how your activity:

Is sustainable—includes plans for long-term success after the global grant funds have been spent

Includes measurable goals

Aligns with one of Rotary’s areas of focus

Responds to real community needs—any club or district that applies for a global grant to support a humanitarian project or a vocational training team must conduct a community assessment first and design the project based on what they learn through that assessment. Be sure to include the results of your community assessment in your application.

Actively involves Rotary and community members

Includes opportunities to build people’s knowledge and skills

Meets the eligibility requirements in the grants terms and conditions

You will submit the application in Rotary’s Grant Center. To prepare, you can download this application template. Applications are accepted throughout the year and are reviewed as they’re received. If you’re working with a cooperating organization, you’ll need to submit additional documentation with your application.

Note: Sponsoring clubs and districts must submit their applications by June 30 to the Rotary Foundation for scholars who will begin studies in August, September, or October.

BENEFIT:

Global grants have a minimum budget of $30,000 and a maximum World Fund award of $400,000. Grant sponsors can use a combination of District Designated Funds (DDF), cash, and/or directed gift and endowed fund program award spendable amounts to fund a global grant. The Foundation will provide an 80 percent World Fund match for all DDF contributions. There is no minimum World Fund match. You can use the global grant calculator to figure your grant financing automatically.

ERASMUS MUNDUS JOURNALISM MASTER’S PROGRAMME

They’re thrilled to once again offer Erasmus Mundus Scholarships for the 2026–2028 programme and the following three intakes. These prestigious scholarships recognize applicants who excel across all selection criteria—combining academic ability, journalistic experience, and thoughtful, well-developed Application Reflections.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Mundus Journalism Consortium aims to admit highly qualified students from a wide range of academic, professional, and cultural backgrounds. Our goal is to ensure that the programme benefits from a diverse and talented student body.

The admission process is designed to ensure a fair and transparent evaluation of all applicants. Each application is reviewed by the Erasmus Mundus Selection Committee, composed of academics from the degree-awarding universities. Applications are assessed in detail by the university hosting the applicant’s chosen second-year specialisation.

To ensure that the strongest candidates are admitted, priority is given to academic merit. Candidates must demonstrate above-average academic performance in their undergraduate studies to be considered. The Committee conducts a holistic review of each application, assessing:
Academic background and academic merit
Quality of journalistic experience
Quality and depth of the Application Reflections (without using AI)
Potential to successfully complete the degree and contribute meaningfully to the global journalism field after graduation

Admission requirements

To be admitted to the Erasmus Mundus Journalism programme, you must meet the formal admission requirements outlined below.

Each year, we receive between 400 and 500 applications from around the world but can only offer places to approximately 80–90 students. This means that admission is highly competitive. In addition to meeting the formal requirements, all applications are carefully assessed according to specific selection criteria to ensure that candidates are a strong fit for the programme’s academic profile and international learning environment.

Requirements for admission to the Mundus Journalism programme:

A 3-year bachelor’s degree within a relevant field of study

Documentation of English language proficiency (to be included in your application if you are not a native English speaker)

At least 3 months of journalistic experience

BENEFIT:

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship benefits:

Full tuition waiver for the duration of the programme.

Monthly allowance of €1400 to support travel, visa, installation, and living costs.

Allowance is granted for up to 24 months, starting from the first September of the 2-year programme.
