UNIVERSITY OF OULU  NOKIA SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

Applicants of specific programmes can apply for a limited number of Nokia Scholarships. The scholarships are intended to fast progressing in master’s studies in System-on-Chip and Radio Frequency-related courses in the curricula.

ELIGIBILITY:

The scholarship is offered to a limited number of talented, accepted applicants in the following Master’s programmes:

Computer Science and Engineering (Computer Science and Engineering)

Electronics

Wireless Communications and Engineering

Sustainable and Autonomous Systems

Please note that all applicants, including those required to pay tuition fees, can apply for this scholarship.

Applicant must apply for the scholarship on the same online application applicant uses to apply for the programme(s) in the Studyinfo portal; suitable programmes listed above.

Application form open: January 7th-21st, 2026, 15:00/3pm GMT+2.

The application forms are evaluated based on the scholarship criteria. If needed, the applicants are invited to an interview. The scholarship decisions are made by Nokia.

The scholarships are awarded to the best applicants based on academic evaluation, especially in System-on-Chip and Radio Frequency related studies, and interest in SoC or RF-related MSc studies and career paths.

All the applicants will be informed about the scholarship decision by June 18, 2026, at the latest.

Nokia Scholarship recipients are required to confirm the acceptance of the scholarship by July 9, 2026, at the latest.

The scholarship is conditional. To receive the Nokia Scholarship, the applicant who has been awarded the scholarship must also have

Accepted their student place in the Studyinfo portal by July 9, 2026, 15:00/3pm (GMT+3)

Paid the tuition fee (if they are liable to pay tuition fees) by July 9, 2026 (GMT+3)

Registered as present for the Academic Year 2026-2027 by the registration deadline (to be confirmed by the University)

Started their studies according to the instructions by the University.

The Nokia Scholarship is paid during the Autumn semester of 2026 to the recipient’s Finnish bank account. To receive the scholarship payment, the recipient needs to fulfill the scholarship conditions, arrive in Oulu, and open a Finnish bank account.

If the person who has been awarded the Nokia Scholarship fails to fulfill the scholarship conditions stated above, the scholarship can be revoked and awarded to the next best applicant on the waiting list.

The Nokia Scholarship cannot be transferred to another year.

BENEFIT:

The amount of the scholarship is 3000 euros. It is paid in one installment.

ONTARIO GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP (OGS) PROGRAM

Application Deadline: Varies by participating Institutions

LOCATION: Canada

Students in graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels can apply for a merit-based scholarship through the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) Program. Awards are available to graduate students for all disciplines of academic study at participating schools in Ontario. Each award is jointly funded by the Province of Ontario (two-thirds) and the school offering the award (one-third).

ELIGIBILITY:

OGS is a merit-based scholarship. Your application is assessed and ranked using criteria determined by the school you’re planning to attend.

To be considered, you must also meet the following criteria:

You’ll be in graduate studies in the master’s or doctoral level

You’ll be enrolled in a full-time program for 2 or more terms (21 to 52 weeks in total) for the academic year you’re submitting your application.

You’ll be attending one of the following participating Ontario school: participating schools in Ontario

Lifetime Maximums: The OGS awards maximums are

Master’s students: 2 academic years

Doctoral students: 4 academic years

Lifetime limit (all students): 6 academic years

Use your school’s OGS application. They are normally available in October.

If you’re applying to more than one graduate program at different schools, submit an OGS application for each school.

BENEFIT:

OGS awards are based on the number of terms of your consecutive studies within an academic year:

$10,000 for 2 consecutive study terms

$15,000 for 3 consecutive study terms

Each OGS award is issued for:

a minimum of 1 academic year (2 or 3 consecutive academic terms)

a maximum of 2 years (up to 6 consecutive academic terms).
