PRESIDENTIAL FISCAL POLICY AND TAX REFORMS CHALLENGE FOR NIGERIAN STUDENTS

The Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee is pleased to introduce the Students Tax Reform Challenge, a nationwide competition for young Nigerians to showcase their knowledge, ideas and creativity on the new tax reform laws.

Objective: The competition and award seek to:

Raise awareness, promote tax education, and inspire constructive dialogue on Nigeria’s tax reform among young Nigerians.

Promote balanced, fact-based narrative and analysis of tax issues.

Develop a pipeline of informed youth ambassadors to drive constructive public engagement.

Position the tax reform as a tool for reinforcing the social contract—civic duty on the part of citizens and accountability from the government.

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to undergraduate students in all Nigerian tertiary institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education), and graduates who are currently undergoing the NYSC program or awaiting mobilization.

Eligible individuals may participate directly or through their institutions’ tax clubs, students’ economics, accounting or journalism associations.

Entry requirements:

Entries may be in English, Pidgin, Hausa, Igbo, or Yoruba to encourage inclusivity and reach.

An interested student is required to read, create and submit published work (articles, videos, podcasts, radio pieces, or social media posts) relating to the tax reform.

Entries in local languages should be submitted along with the English translation. Videos or podcasts should not exceed 10 minutes. 

Content must be educative, engaging, and fact-based. Entries that are critical of the reform are welcome.

Eligible publications: From 1 July to 31 December 2025.

Evaluation criteria:

Objectivity & Balance – Work does not contain propaganda and presents constructive insights

Technical Correctness – Factual and accurate explanation of the tax laws.

Public Engagement—Clarity, creativity, and accessibility for the general public.

Impact & Reach – Evidence of engagement (views, shares, or public discussion generated)

Applications will open via the official portal by the end of December 2025 via fiscalreforms.ng. Follow updates on social media with #NGTaxReformChallenge.

BENEFIT:

1st Prize: ₦5m

2nd Prize: ₦3m

3rd Prize: ₦2m 

Consolation prizes for the top 10 finalists from each geopolitical zone, including gadgets, internships or employment opportunities, and Tax Reform Youth Ambassador honours!

All finalists stand the chance to receive at least one of the following: tech gadgets, employment or internship opportunities, training scholarships, and branded materials.

Students’ Associations Support: Each finalist’s tax/economics/journalism club or association receives recognition grants of ₦2m to organize a tax education event within their institution.

Ambassadorship: All finalists named “Tax Reform Youth Ambassadors” with the opportunity to participate in national events.

CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF LITERARY COMPETITIONS (3RD EDITION) 2026

LOCATION: Nigeria

The Nigerian Army is organising the COAS Literary Competitions 2026 with the theme “The NA: The People’s Army, Our Army”. The competition is open to applicants in Primary and Secondary Schools as well as undergraduates in Nigeria from Monday, 11th August 2025 to Tuesday, 31st March 2026.

All the categories for the COAS Literary Competitions are open to applicants between the ages of 5 and 11 years (primary schools), 12 and 17 years (secondary schools), and all ages (undergraduates), respectively. The Categories are as follows:

COAS Essay Competition

COAS Art Competition

COAS Poetry Competition

ELIGIBILITY:

All entries for the COAS Literary Competitions 2026 will be guided by the following guidelines:

Application forms for primary, secondary and undergraduates must be completed online, printed, duly endorsed and stamped by the Head of Schools, scanned and uploaded.

There would be 2 levels of assessment. An initial assessment to shortlist successful candidates while the second would be virtual interaction with a team of assessors before final selection of winners.

At any stage of the screening processes, entry that is discovered not to be original will be disqualified from the competitions.

All entries may be published in NA Journals/Periodicals.

The specific entries requirements which applicants MUST strictly adhere to for each competition are as follows:

COAS Essay Competition:

Topics to be coined from the theme (“The NA: The People’s Army, Our Army”).
Length of the essay for primary and secondary schools should not exceed 2000 words while those for tertiary institutions should be between 3000 – 5000 words.
Essay should be the original thoughts of the writer.

COAS Art Competition:

Artworks must have bearing with the theme (“The NA: The People’s Army, Our Army”).
All artworks are limited to only painting and drawing.
The artwork should be submitted with a short caption.
Submitted works must be the original works of the artist and should not have been published.
Entries are to be snapped/scanned and uploaded not later than 31st March, 2026

COAS Poetry Competition:

All poems should be original.
Poems can belong to any genre but must be related to the theme of the competition.
Poems are to contain a maximum of 200 words.
All entries must be in the English Language.

BENEFIT:

The winners of the COAS Literary Competitions 2026, will be issued with appropriate certificates and cash prizes as follows:
