VICTORIA UNIVERSITY OF WELLINGTON TONGAREWA INTERNATIONAL MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIP

The Tongarewa International Scholarship is a partial fee-based scholarship that will go towards tuition fees for one year of study. It is designed for new international students who are entering their first year of undergraduate or postgraduate studies at Victoria University of Wellington.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must be:

International students who are paying full international fees

A holder of an unconditional or conditional Offer of Place for an eligible programme at Victoria University of Wellington

New students to Victoria University of Wellington

selected by the scholarship award panel (upon scholarship application)

The following documentation must be provided as part of the online scholarship application:

a personal statement of up to 500 words outlining why the applicant wishes to study at Victoria University of Wellington, their academic goals and why they merit the scholarship. Applicants should also include any leadership positions and details of their involvement in their school or community

an Offer of Place or a Conditional Offer of Place for an eligible programme at Victoria University of Wellington (failing to upload the offer with the scholarship application will result in the dismissal of the application)

This is a partial fee-based scholarship which is awarded competitively based on academic excellence and the student’s personal statement. A panel comprising of appropriate Wellington University International staff will review the applications and award the scholarships.

A completed online application must be submitted by 4:30pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation must also be received by 4:30pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.

All offers of the Scholarship will be conditional upon the recipient being fully enrolled in a full-year programme (full-time will be at the level of at least 45) within the stipulated criteria and tenure of the scholarship. No payment of the Scholarship will be made until this condition is met.

BENEFIT:

The amount will be awarded as either $2,500, $5,000, $7,500 or $10,000.

The scholarship amount will be credited to students’ accounts approximately two weeks after the programme begins, once the withdrawal period has ended. It cannot be paid out before this date.

Students must pay their tuition fees in full upfront and cannot deduct the scholarship from these fees.

Once the scholarship is awarded, the decision is final and cannot be appealed.

FULLY FUNDED ADELAIDE UNIVERSITY RTP PROJECT ROUND (INTERNATIONAL AND DOMESTIC APPLICANTS) SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarships advertised in the Project Round are available to PhD or Master of Philosophy students to undertake a specified research project aligned to one of four Signature Research Themes (Creative & Cultural; Food, Agriculture & Wine; Personal & Societal Health; and Sustainable Green Transition). Available scholarships will be advertised on the Find a Research Project webpage and these projects will be clearly marked for consideration in the Project Round.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for scholarship consideration:

Applicants must be eligible to enroll in a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at Adelaide University.

Incomplete qualifications will not be considered when determining scholarship eligibility unless the qualification has been satisfactorily completed and acceptable evidence provided by the scholarship closing date.

Australian and onshore international students completing a coursework qualification in the semester of application at an Australian university (University of Adelaide and University of South Australia only for international students) will be eligible for consideration.

Australian and onshore international applicants completing a research degree qualification in the semester of application at an Australian university (University of Adelaide and University of South Australia only for international students) will only be eligible for consideration if they have submitted their thesis for examination by the scholarship closing date.

Note: examination results must be provided within 3 months of the scholarship closing date.

International applicants must provide evidence of meeting the minimum English language proficiency requirements for direct entry by the scholarship closing date for their application to be considered.

Applicants must not currently be in receipt of an RTP Scholarship, an overseas sponsored scholarship, or any other equivalent award or scholarship from the Commonwealth Government designed to offset research degree fees.

Applicants must not hold an equivalent research degree at, or higher than, the level for which they are applying.

Applicants must be able to commence their research in the periods listed in Section 4 Commencement. vii. Applicants who have previously applied and were unsuccessful may re-apply for admission and a scholarship in any subsequent round.

BENEFIT:

Full-time graduate research students receive a tax-exempt stipend of $36,500 per annum in 2026 (indexed annually) for up to 3.5 years, no extension possible.

Half-time graduate research students receive a taxable stipend of $18,250 per annum in 2026 (indexed annually) for up to 7 years, no extension possible.
