AI-CYBERSECURITY ESSAY PRIZE COMPETITION

Munich Security Conference (MSC) and Binding Hook proudly announce the AI-Cybersecurity Essay Prize Competition, inviting experts to explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence on cybersecurity. This competition seeks insightful analyses on the implications for Europe and recommendations for policymakers, with an opportunity for winners to be recognized at an international forum.

ELIGIBILITY:

Essay Question: “How will Artificial Intelligence change cybersecurity, and what are the implications for Europe? Discuss potential strategies that policymakers can adopt to navigate these changes.”

The competition is open to experts in cybersecurity and AI from any part of the world. All submissions must be in English.

They only accept single-authored submissions.

There is no fee to enter the AI-Cybersecurity Essay Prize Competition.

Each participant may submit only one entry for the competition. Multiple submissions from the same participant will not be accepted.

This competition invites researchers in cybersecurity and AI to put forward their perspectives on this crucial issue. A particular emphasis is placed on understanding the consequences for Europe, urging participants to delve into how these technological shifts affect European security and policy.

Winners will not only receive a monetary reward but also have their work published on Binding Hook, Virtual Routes’ platform for technology and security, and be celebrated at the 2025 Munich Security Conference (February 14-16, 2025).

The prizes for the top essays are as follows:

1st Place: €10,000

Runner-Up: €5,000

3rd Place: €2,500

4th-5th Places: €1,000

The author of the winning essay will be invited to attend the 2025 Munich Security Conference (February 13-16, 2025), where they will be honored at the award ceremony. This presents a unique opportunity to stand in the global spotlight, engaging with leaders and innovators from various sectors and sharing insights on the pivotal role of AI in shaping the future of cybersecurity.

UNIVERSITY OF WAIKATO: SIR WILLIAM GALLAGHER CYBER SECURITY SCHOLARSHIP

Sir William Gallagher is a long-standing supporter of the University of Waikato and Hamilton-based Gallagher is one of the world’s leading technology innovators in physical security systems.

ELIGIBILITY:

This scholarship is for students intending to enrol in the dissertation or thesis part of a Master of Cyber Security by the end of A Trimester 2025. Candidates must have gained a ‘B+’ average for their most recent 120 points of study. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain industry experience through a research project at Gallagher.

be commencing enrolment during A Trimester (in the year following application) in one of the following as part of the Master of Cyber Security (MCS) at the University of Waikato:

COMPX592 – Dissertation (60-points); or b) COMPX593 – Computer Science thesis (90-points).

Note that enrolment in COMPX593 will be at the discretion of the Head of School and may be taken in place of COMPX592 and the two elective papers in Part 1 of the Master of Cyber Security degree.

have completed the majority of taught papers for Part 1 of the Master of Cyber Security by the end of the year of application.

have achieved at least a ‘B+’ grade-point-average (GPA) for their most recent 120- points of study (the 120-points of study must have been undertaken at a New Zealand university))

Candidates will be ranked by GPA, with emphasis placed on those with papers most relevant to the area of specialisation proposed for the MCS degree.

Grades for industry placement papers will not be considered.

have strong interest in the field of cyber security, show innovative thinking and/or entrepreneurship ability (particularly through previous initiatives and project work), and have career aspirations in the field of cyber security; and

be a New Zealand Citizen, New Zealand Permanent Resident, New Zealand Resident class visa holder, Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident domiciled in New Zealand or an international student.

BENEFIT:

The Scholarship will have a value of up to $20,000 with the value awarded dependent on the paper enrolment.
