MALMÖ UNIVERSITY MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIP

Each year, Malmö University offers a limited number of scholarships to qualified master’s students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland who are required to pay tuition fees. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, experience, and motivation. They cover partial or up to the full tuition fee but do not cover other expenses, such as living expenses.  

ELIGIBILITY:

Students who have applied for an English-taught master’s programme and meet all of the following conditions are eligible to apply for the Malmö University Master’s Scholarship:

Applied in the first admissions round

Chose an English-taught master’s programme at Malmö University as their first choice on University Admissions (ranked as number 1 of 4)

They were admitted to their first-choice programme

Required to pay tuition fees for university studies in Sweden

To apply for the scholarship, follow these steps: 

Apply for one of our master’s programmes through University Admissions as your first priority. Make sure to pay the application fee to University Admissions.

Admitted students will receive more information on how to apply for the scholarship after Notification of Selection Results.

Scholarship selection will be based on previous academic excellence, the experience described in your CV, and your ability to motivate social engagement through your chosen programme at Malmö University. 

Applicants who have been offered a scholarship will be notified by the end of April. Those who are not offered a scholarship will not be notified individually.

Only a few students are granted scholarships every year. You should, therefore, start planning for ways to finance your tuition and stay in Sweden well in advance, in case you are not awarded a scholarship. The deadline to pay tuition fees is 10 May.

Students admitted to two-year programmes retain the scholarship for the second year if they successfully complete the first year of study and meet the progression criteria (minimum 22.5 credits a semester, minimum 45 credits an academic year).

SI Scholarship for Global Professionals: covers tuition, a SEK15,000 monthly stipend, and a SEK12,000 travel grant.

Malmö University Master’s Scholarship: cover partial or up to the full tuition fee

Malmö University Excellence Scholarship: covers partial or up to the full tuition fee

Pioneering Women in STEM: covers tuition, a SEK 15,000 living stipend, and a SEK 12,000 travel grant.

SWEDISH INSTITUTE (SI) SCHOLARSHIP FOR GLOBAL PROFESSIONALS AT LUND UNIVERSITY

LOCATION: Sweden

Lund University is one of the distinguished institutions participating in the Swedish Institute’s scholarship program, which awards academic funding to outstanding professionals from selected countries for master’s studies in Sweden

ELIGIBILITY:

The scholarship supports full-time, one- or two-year master’s studies at Swedish universities, across a wide range of English-taught programmes. Fields of study include: Governance, Public Health, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

You will also become part of the SI Network for Global Professionals, a platform for collaboration, learning, and lifelong connection with fellow leaders from around the world. 

The scholarship is open for applications once every year, for master’s studies beginning in the autumn semester. In order to apply you must: 

Be a citizen of one of the 34 eligible countries for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals;

Apply for a master’s programme that is eligible for the SI scholarship;  

Be liable to pay tuition fees at University Admissions;  

Have demonstrated work experience; 

Have demonstrated leadership experience from a current or previous employer, or from civil society engagement.   

Key dates:

16 October 2025 – 15 January 2026: Apply to Swedish master’s programmes through University Admissions. 

Mid-November 2025: SI Scholarship application documents and eligible master programmes are published on this page.

9-25 February 2026: Application portal for the SI Scholarships is open for two weeks.

26 March 2026: University admissions announcement.

23 April 2026: SI Scholarship announcement.

BENEFIT:

The Scholarship for Global Professionals is a competitive, fully funded scholarship that includes: 

Full tuition fee coverage. The fee is paid directly by SI to your Swedish university each semester.

A monthly allowance of SEK 12,000 to cover your living expenses throughout the study period.

A travel grant of SEK 15,000 (*10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine). This is a one-time payment and does not apply to students already living in Sweden.

Membership in the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP)—a platform to help you grow professionally and build a network while in Sweden.

After your scholarship period has ended, you become a member of the Sweden Alumni Network. As a member, you get a unique opportunity for continued networking and professional development.
