FULLY FUNDED IN IRELAND: THEOLOGY, PHILOSOPHY & MUSIC PHD SCHOLARSHIPS 2026 AT THE DUBLIN CITY UNIVERSITY (DCU)

The Theology, Philosophy & Music PhD Scholarships at Dublin City University (DCU) offer outstanding doctoral candidates the opportunity to pursue advanced research within the School of Theology, Philosophy, and Music.

ELIGIBILITY:

Music Scholarship: The call is open to Irish, UK, EU, and international students. Applicants must have an undergraduate degree at first-class honours level or at least 2.1 level in a relevant subject area. It is desirable that candidates hold a relevant Master’s qualification. Candidates who are currently completing a Master’s qualification are welcome to apply. 

The school is interested in receiving research proposals in the following areas:

Music in Digital Cultures (including AI)

Electroacoustic Music/Sound Studies

Music, Technology, and Higher Education

Music and Arts Infrastructure

Choral Studies 

Historical Musicology

Applied Musicology 

Contemporary Music 

Music Cognition

Jazz Musicology

BENEFIT:

Music Scholarship, Theology and Religious Studies Scholarship & Philosophy and Ethics Scholarship: Funding covers full-time fees for 4 years and an annual stipend of €25,000. Students will become part of a vibrant interdisciplinary academic community and will have opportunities in research training and mentoring toward publication and grant writing, as well as support for dissemination of research. The scholarship start date is September 2026.

CARDINAL-MAURICE-ROY FUND 2ND CYCLE SCHOLARSHIP IN THEOLOGY OR PRACTICAL THEOLOGY

Application Deadline: August 1, 2024

LOCATION: Canada

This scholarship offered by the Theology Scholarship Fund of the Cardinal-Maurice-Roy Fund aims to encourage the best students to undertake higher studies in theology or practical theology at Laval University.

ELIGIBILITY:

For Canadian citizens, Permanent residents and International students

Targeted study programs: Second cycle:

FTSR-Fac. theol. these religions.

Master of Theology

Master of Theology – with dissertation

Have Canadian citizenship, permanent resident or be a foreign student.

Be admitted to the master’s degree in theology or practical theology at Laval University.

Be registered full-time for the scholarship award period (fall and winter).

The candidate must Excellence in academic record  and Relevance of the study project

For renewal, the candidate must demonstrate, using a brief report approved by their research director, and to the satisfaction of the Fund’s steering committee, significant progress in their research project.

BENEFIT:

1 scholarship of $5,000  (one year duration with only one renewal possible)
