FUND (PTDF) IN-COUNTRY SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME (ISS) FOR UNDERGRADUATE, POSTGRADUATE & DOCTORAL SCHOLARS IN NIGERIAN PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES.

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a Federal Government agency with the mandate of developing indigenous human capacity to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry. The Fund hereby invites applications from interested and qualified Nigerians to apply for the 2023/2024 Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctorate scholarships in Nigerian Public Universities.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must have a National Identity Number (NIN) before applying for the scholarship and verify the NIN before proceeding with the application (NIMC verification charges apply).

Applicants who have benefitted from any of the PTDF scholarships in the past CANNOT APPLY for the same or lower category of degree.

Applicants who are current beneficiaries of any other scholarship NEED NOT APPLY.

Application is restricted to Public Universities and for specific courses

Admission for part-time studies shall not be considered for all categories of applications.

(ISS) MSc. (Requirements for application):

Applicants must possess a full-time admission letter into any of the Public Universities.

A minimum of Second-Class lower (2.2) in an Oil and Gas related field.

The course of study must be related to Management and Oil & Gas industry.

Possess at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results (not more than 2 sittings and the two results must precede the first degree).

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate or Letter of exemption.

Certificate of indigeneship (evidence of state of origin and Local Government).

Personal statement of at least 1000 words stating reasons for undertaking the course of study.

PhD (ISS) (Requirements for application):

Applicants must possess a full-time admission letter into any of the Public Universities in Nigeria.

A minimum of Second-Class lower (2.2) in an Oil and Gas/Management related field.

A minimum of merit in a second-degree certificate in an Oil and Gas related discipline.

Possess at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results (not more than 2 sittings and the two results must precede the first degree).

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate or Letter of exemption

Certificate of indigeneship (evidence of state of origin and Local Government).

The research area must be relevant to the Oil and Gas industry.

PhD research proposal of not more than 6 pages. The proposal template can be accessed via the applicant’s profile on the PTDF Scholarship Management Portal.

(ISS) Undergraduate:

Applicants must be full time students in any of the Public Universities in Nigeria.

Applicants must be presently in 200 level of study.

The course of study should be related to the Oil & Gas industry.

Possess 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO including English Language and Mathematics.

Possession of a valid admission letter into the University is mandatory for all undergraduate applicants.

Possess a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 on scale of 5 or 3.0 on a scale of 4 which is equivalent to 2.2 in the first year.

Applicants must provide transcripts for the first year of study (transcripts must be signed and stamped by HOD/Exams Officer or any authorized personnel in the University).

Undergraduate applicants must have completed first year two semester examinations and are presently in second year of studies.

Only undergraduate applicants undertaking studies in Oil and Gas related fields (as advertised) will be considered, and selection shall be based on grades on the transcripts. (Transcripts must be signed and stamped by HOD/Exams Officer or any authorized personnel of the University).

Undergraduates Reward: N500,000/Yr + Laptop (625,000 first year)

MASTERCARD/CIFAR WOMEN IN RESEARCH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SYMPOSIUM

The CIFAR Women in Research Leadership Development Symposium convenes exceptional early career researchers from across sub-Saharan Africa, in any academic discipline, to strengthen their leadership skills through facilitated training; expand their professional networks; build their capacity for leading-edge, interdisciplinary research and collaboration; and receive mentorship from amongst Africa’s top women research leaders.

ELIGIBILITY:

Interested applicants must hold a primarily research-focused position (typically as a senior graduate student, postdoctoral fellow or early career faculty member) at an academic or research institution in sub-Saharan Africa,

be 35 years of age or younger as of January 27, 2025.

All academic disciplines and areas of research are welcome.

Applicants of any gender may apply; at least 70% of selected participants will be women.

Applicants are required to submit a CV and articulate how attending this symposium would advance their career goals and vision for impact.
