Are you working academically or practically in climate protection or climate-relevant resource conservation in your country of origin – a non-European developing or transition country (see list of countries, PDF)? Then we invite you to apply for an International Climate Protection Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

ELIGIBILITY:

As future decision-makers and multipliers, you aim to take on the global challenge of climate change through international, cross-border cooperation. The International Climate Protection Fellowship is designed for prospective leaders working practically and postdocs. We invite you to apply for an International Climate Protection Fellowship if you:

engage with climate change issues

are a citizen of a non-European developing or transition country (see list of countries, PDF) and have been predominantly living and working there

have initial experience in a leadership role and corresponding leadership skills

have very good knowledge of English and/or German

BENEFIT:

The fellowship facilitates the mutual exchange of knowledge, methods and techniques with hosts in Germany; this also extends to questions of practical applicability in your country of origin. We offer you

as a prospective leader working practically a monthly fellowship amount of 2,200€, 2,500€ or 2,700€ plus ancillary benefits – depending on your training and career level; as a postdoc, a monthly fellowship amount of 2,700€ plus ancillary benefits

individual support during your stay in Germany

additional financial support for example for accompanying partners and children, for travel expenses, for full private health insurance or for a German language course

a three-week introductory event where you can connect with other climate protection fellows, visit businesses and research institutions, and attend cultural events in Germany

extensive alumni sponsorship, in particular to support long-term connections with your cooperation partners in Germany over the duration of your entire professional career

Hosts receive a monthly allowance for research costs of 800€ for projects in the natural and engineering sciences or 500€ for projects in the humanities and social sciences.

6TH TRIENNALE OF KOGEI WORLD COMPETITION IN KANAZAWA

Application Deadline: 11:59 p.m. (JST) on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

LOCATION: Japan

The Kogei World Competition in Kanazawa aims to make known the vanguard of craft. It transmits what is new in the realm of craft from Kanazawa to the world, seeking works that make use of previously developed and refined craft techniques to produce appealing works based on outstanding concepts and ideas.

ELIGIBILITY:

Persons of any nationality and age are encouraged to submit works.

Eligible works must have been produced in 2022 or later by an individual or group. They cannot have been previously exhibited, including in other open-call exhibitions.

Entries are limited to one submission per applicant (individual or group) and are free.

Works should apply a contemporary perspective to craft techniques or materials in a way that is both unique and expressive.

Works in such genres and media as ceramics, metalwork, textile, lacquer, wood, bamboo, glass, dolls, leather, cloisonné, paper, and other fields are welcomed, as are works that combine craft techniques and materials.

Form and Dimensions

Form: Both three-dimensional and flat works will be accepted.

Dimensions: Combined height, width, and depth of no more than 350 centimeters, with a weight no greater than 50 kilograms.

For flat works: These restrictions include the size and weight of the frame.

Please refrain from putting glass or acrylic in the frame.

The Next Generation Award:

The Next Generation Award is open to those who are under the age of thirty-five as of the end of July 2025, when the final judging will be conducted. (Date of birth must be on or after August 1, 1990. In the case of a group, all members must meet the age requirement.)

Award Ceremony and Conference to be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

Award recipients are asked to attend the Award Ceremony.

Grand Prize and Second Prize recipients (or a representative of a group winning either) are asked to attend the Award Ceremony and Conference. To ensure that recipients can do so, funding for part of the expense of lodging and/or travel will be made available by the Executive Committee.
