15TH ANNUAL MANGA KINGDOM TOTTORI INTERNATIONAL COMIC ART CONTEST

The 15th Annual Manga Kingdom Tottori International Comic Art Contest is open for submission. The contest will be accepting submissions under the following three categories. All entries must reflect the theme “Clothes.”
1-frame manga (1 page)
4-frame manga (1-8 pages)
4 to 24 page manga story
(Artists can submit to multiple categories and can make multiple entries. Co-produced works will also be accepted.)

ELIGIBILITY:

Entries must be original works that have not been previously published
or publicly released. (Works published as doujinshi are acceptable.)

There are no specific eligibility requirements, and submissions from artists of all ages and nationalities will be accepted.

Submissions must be received between April 20th, 2026, and August 31st, 2026 (no later than this date).

Requirements:

General criteria:

Original paper size must be B4 (257mm X 364mm) or A4(210mm X 297mm).

Write the title and text in Japanese or in your own native language.

Submitted work may be in color or black and white (or a combination of both).

Page numbers should be clearly visible at the bottom of each page.

For hand-drawn hard copy:

Double-sided works will not be accepted.

Title and text must be clearly written and readable.

For soft copy:

The file format of the submitted data must be in .pdf format

For black and white data submissions, we recommend a display resolution of 600dpi or more.

For color data submissions, we recommend a display resolution of 350dpi or more.

Submitting Works:

Submitting the original work (hard or soft copy)

For paper submission, submit one original sized copy in A4 sized paper.
Ensure that title and text are clearly written and readable before sending.

For soft copy submission, submit in a CD-R or DVD-R.

Include one Application Form per entry.

Submitted copy will not be returned.

Access the online application form, fill in the required fields, and upload the file data.

Required Information: Application Category, Entry Title, Nationality, Name, Contact Details, Birthdate, Gender, Occupation (or School Name and Grade), Pen Name / Pseudonym.

Data Format and File Size Limits: Data must be submitted in .pdf format (name the pdf after the title of your work).
The maximum size for upload is 100MB.

BENEFIT:

The selection committee will review all three categories and select one work to be awarded the Grand Prize. Additional works will be considered for other awards. The contest prizes consist of the following:

1 work will be awarded the Grand Prize consisting of a certificate and 500,000 yen.

2 works will be awarded merit awards consisting of a certificate and 100,000 yen.

Approximately 3 works will be awarded a selection committee award consisting of a certificate and 50,000 yen.

Approximately 3 works will be awarded a U-15 youth manga artist prize (for artists 15 years of age and younger) consisting of a certificate and prize item (30,000 yen value).

HOKKAIDO UNIVERSITY MEXT SCHOLARSHIP SPECIAL QUOTA INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE PROGRAM (OCTOBER 2027)

The special international graduate program (IGP) : Life Science Researcher Training Program for Solving Global Issues is financially supported by the Japanese Government, MEXT. This program aims to train the international research pioneers in life sciences with hopes for a fruitful future in their home country. It provides scholarship to outstanding international students from any country to undertake a PhD or master course study at Graduate School of Life Science, Hokkaido University

ELIGIBILITY:

All countries with diplomatic relations with Japan.

Academic Field: Laboratories in the IGP programme (students must select a lab and supervisor aligned with their research interests).

Eligible programme: Postgraduate Scholarship

Applicants must:

Contact prospective supervisors and obtain permission to enroll in a laboratory.

Submit required documents via supervisor to the IGP office.

Be physically and mentally healthy.

Meet academic qualifications (Master’s or Doctoral admission requirements).

Provide proof of English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS or equivalent).

Required Documents:

MEXT Scholarship application form.

Field of study and study programme outline.

Recommendation letter (Dean or higher).

Valid passport copy.

Official transcripts.

Certificate of graduation/expected graduation.

Summary of Master’s thesis or undergraduate research.

Proof of English proficiency.

Additional info confirmation sheet.

To Apply:

Review the IGP laboratory list and contact prospective supervisors.

Obtain supervisor approval (Laboratory Screening).

Submit documents to supervisor.

Supervisor forwards documents to IGP office by 10 December 2026.

Await screening results and the final recommendation to MEXT.
