UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY JUDGE RALPH J PERDRIAU POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP IN COMMON LAW

This prestigious stipend scholarship supports research students from the Sydney Law School to conduct research in common law

ELIGIBILITY:

The Scholarship is offered subject to the candidate having an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled to study full-time in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Laws (LLM) by Research within the Sydney Law School.

You must:

have an unconditional offer of admission to study full-time in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Laws (LLM) by Research within the Sydney Law School

be willing to conduct research in common law

hold at least one of the following degrees:

a Bachelor of Laws (Honours First Class) or equivalent, or

 a Master of Laws by Research, or

a Master of Laws by Coursework including a research component equivalent to 25% of one year’s full-time enrolment

a degree in Law together with research and/or professional experience deemed to be equivalent to first class honours.

The scholarship has been established with the aim of attracting top candidates, who have well-developed research projects and who would be competitive at top international institutes of higher learning, to do their research degree at the Sydney Law School. The School may also prioritise candidates whose research aligns with the School’s strategic research priorities.

Preference will be given to commencing candidates, though the Scholarship may exceptionally be awarded to currently enrolled full-time PhD, or LLM by Research students demonstrating progress towards timely thesis completion and exceptional research achievements.

BENEFIT:

This scholarship can be awarded as either a Primary or Supplementary scholarship.

 i. When offered as primary, the Scholarship will provide a primary stipend allowance up to $50,000 per annum as per the below duration:

up to 1.75 years for a successful full-time LLM by Research recipient. No extension is possible.

up to 3 years for a successful full-time PhD recipient with a possible six months extension.

ii. When offered as supplementary (stipend), the Scholarship will provide a supplementary stipend allowance to match a total stipend value (i.e. primary plus supplementary) up to $50,000 per annum as per the below duration:

up to 1.75 years for a successful full-time LLM by Research recipient. No extension is possible.

up to 3 years for a successful full-time PhD recipient with a possible six months extension.

iii. When offered as either primary or supplementary (one-off payment), the Scholarship value will be paid as a one-off payment on receipt of Scholarship Acceptance Form. The value of the scholarship will be mentioned in the offer letter.

UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE HONOURS IN ECONOMICS ENTRANCE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

The Honours in Economics Entrance Merit Scholarship is offered to high achieving students who are enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) or Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in the Department of Economics.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be considered for this scholarship, you must have applied for and met the requirements for the Bachelor of Commerce (Degree with Honours) or a Bachelor of Arts (Degree with Honours) in the Department of Economics.

Study stage type: Future study, Current study

Study area: Arts, humanities and social sciences; Business and economics

The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest based on their weighted average mark for Undergraduate Level 3 Economics core subjects.

This scholarship is subject to the University’s Coursework Scholarship Terms and Conditions and cannot be deferred to the following year. In addition, students must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and to provide a note of appreciation and a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

Students are automatically considered if they have applied for admission for commencement in the award year.

BENEFIT:

This scholarship provides a living allowance of $12,000 for one year, paid in half-yearly instalments of $6,000 in April and September.
