The Ohio State Department of Recreational Sports is seeking candidates for the positions of Graduate Assistant (2026-2027) in the following areas: Facilities, Special Events, Member Services, Group Fitness and Personal Training.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be considered for an assistantship, candidates must apply to the Graduate School and the Master of Science in Kinesiology, Sport Management program or to the Master of Arts in Educational Studies, Higher Education and Student AffairsA minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for admission into graduate school at the Ohio State University. Ohio State Recreational Sports is not currently accepting materials from applicants to programs or degrees other than those linked above.

BENEFIT:

GAs are appointed to 9-month terms and receive approximately $2,682 in a monthly stipend. GAs are expected to serve as a GA for two years. Also included is a full tuition waiver (including in/out of state and international). Summer employment may be available but is not guaranteed.

THE NORDIC AFRICA INSTITUTE MASTER’S/PHD SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

If you are a student or researcher engaged in Africa-focused studies at a University in Sweden, Finland, Denmark or Iceland, the Nordic Scholarship Programme gives you the opportunity to visit NAI for one month.

Through the Nordic Scholarship Programme, NAI aims to contribute to building capacity in the production of knowledge about Africa and to promote and establish relations with and between Nordic research communities.

ELIGIBILITY:

You must be a master student, PhD candidate or postdoctoral researcher in the social sciences or humanities.

You may apply regardless of citizenship, but you must be affiliated with a university or research center in Sweden, Finland, Denmark or Iceland.

You must be pursuing Africa-oriented studies/research.

The selection process

The aim of the scholarship programme is to offer a 1-month stay at the Nordic Africa Institute in order to facilitate use of the Institute’s library collections on contemporary Africa (books, periodicals, newspapers, and government publications) and to support connection to existing work at the Institute through NAI research hosts. The scholarships are awarded once per year.

BENEFIT:

The scholarship covers travel expenses, accommodation and a subsistence allowance.

You get access to a workspace in a shared office at the Institute for your one-month stay.
