FAO–HUNGARIAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME 2026–2027

The following Master of Science degree courses are offered in English for the 2026–27 academic year:

Master in Agricultural Biotechnology—Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Szent István Campus, Gödöllő 

Master in Animal Nutrition and Feed Safety Engineering—Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Kaposvár Campus, Kaposvár

Master in Plant Protection—University of Debrecen, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, Debrecen 

ELIGIBILITY:

Residents (who must be nationals) of the following countries are eligible to apply for the Scholarship Programme: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar, the Republic of Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Namibia, Nigeria, North Korea, Palestine, the Philippines, the Republic of Cabo Verde, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen.

Student selection will take place in two phases:

Phase 1: FAO will pre-screen candidates and submit applications to the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary, which will send them to the corresponding University as chosen by the applicants. Students must submit only COMPLETE dossiers.  Incomplete dossiers will not be considered. Files without names will not be processed.

Phase 2: Selected candidates may be asked to take a written or oral English examination as part of the admission procedure. The participating University will run a further selection process and inform each of the successful candidates.  Student selection will be made by the Universities only, without any involvement on the part of FAO. Selected students will also be notified by the Ministry.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:

Citizenship and residency of one of the eligible countries 

Excellent school achievements

English language proficiency (for courses taught in English)

Motivation

Good health

Age (candidates under 30 are preferred)

The scholarship covers student costs only; family members are not supported within the frame of this programme.

BENEFIT:

The scholarship will cover:

Application and tuition fees throughout the study period with basic books and notes;

Dormitory accommodation;

Subsistence costs;

Health insurance.

All of the above-mentioned costs are financed by the Hungarian Government, according to the Agreement between FAO and Hungary in 2007.

The Wilkes Climate Innovation Prize seeks bold, high-potential solutions that address significant challenges affecting the climate/energy /economy ecosystem and are positioned to make measurable progress toward real-world use.

ELIGIBILITY:

Organizations at all stages, both for-profit and nonprofit, anywhere in the world, are eligible to submit ideas to be considered for the Wilkes Climate Launch Prize. This includes seed, pre-seed, venture-funded, publicly traded stage companies, or nonprofits.

You should consider applying if:

You are working on a solution with a clear real-world application, not only a theoretical concept

Your solution addresses a material climate-system challenge, not a marginal improvement

You can articulate what needs to happen next and what currently stands in the way 

Support at this stage could meaningfully change your trajectory

Organizations at all stages may apply, from early concept through growth, provided the solution is at a stage where catalytic support is relevant.

BENEFIT:

Financial Support: One Grand Prize award of $250,000 USD in non-dilutive funding to support validation, pilots, or readiness for scale
