Murdoch University is pleased to offer the ARC Research Hub in Responsible AI for a Sustainable Grain Industry. This hub aims to revolutionize Australia’s grain industry by developing innovative responsible AI (RAI) technologies that drive sustainable growth.
ELIGIBILITY:
Hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree with honours (minimum Second Class Division 1) or a Master’s degree with a substantial research component
Have a strong academic background in a relevant discipline: artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, engineering/bio-engineering, agriculture, or a closely related field
(International students) Meet Murdoch University English language proficiency requirements (IELTS Academic Overall 6.5/Writing 6.0 or equivalent), and be eligible for admission to a full-time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at Murdoch University.
Demonstrate appropriate research capability, including research methods training and academic writing skills
Industry project experience preferred
The scholarship recipients will undertake a substantive engagement with our industry partners as a core component of the PhD.

Stage 2: Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed, and the preferred candidate will then work with the supervisory panel to prepare a research proposal for a full application.

BENEFIT:
The successful candidates will receive an ARC-funded PhD stipend of $37,000 per annum (2026 rate, tax-free) for up to 3.5 years, subject to satisfactory progress. The successful applicant can enroll between July and November 2026 or January and May 2027.
