UNIVERSITI MALAYA BRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP FOR OUTSTANDING PHD (RESEARCH) CANDIDATES.

Universiti Malaya Bright Scholarship is a full scholarship program created to identify and recruit outstanding candidates (citizens and non-citizens) from leading educational institutions around the world to pursue a Doctoral Degree ( in research mode at Universiti Malaya UM)

ELIGIBILITY:

Level of Study: The study level offered is Full-time PhD (research mode) only

Fields of Study: The field of study must be within the 10 UM thrust areas. The University Management reserves the right to determine any appropriate field for the scholarship offer based on the merits of each case.

Applicable Intake: Each application cycle applies exclusively to newly admitted students of the corresponding intake.

The applicant must be no more than 30 years old at the year of application.

The applicants must possess a valid Full Offer Letter issued by Universiti Malaya at the time of scholarship application.

Minimum academic qualifications required to apply are as follows:

A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.70/4.00 (or an equivalent recognized qualification) and

A Master’s Degree by research, or a Master’s Degree by mixed mode with a minimum CGPA of 3.70/4.00 (or an equivalent
recognized qualification).

Fast-track candidates (direct entry from Bachelor’s to PhD) are not eligible.

Non-citizens must have the following English language qualifications:

IELTS Academic: Overall Band Score of 6.5 or above; or

TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 73; or

An official English language qualification or assessment demonstrating proficiency equivalent to CEFR Level B2 or above;
or

A Letter of Medium of Instruction (MOI) issued by the applicant’s previous university, confirming that the programme of the study was conducted entirely in English.

Note:

The university reserves the right to determine the equivalency and acceptability of English language qualifications not explicitly listed above.

The validity of the English test is within 2 years from the date of the examination.

The applicant must not be receiving any sponsorship from any organization or other parties

BENEFIT:

Fee Waiver: Scholars receive a tuition fee waiver for seven (7) semesters to support your academic journey.

Monthly Stipend: Scholars receive RM3,500/month for a period of 42 months

Please note that any payment involving the preparation of agreement documents, preparation of passports, insurance, visas, flight tickets, medical examinations, and accommodation is NOT to be borne by the University
