CONRAD N. HILTON FOUNDATION NOMINATION FOR HUMANITARIAN PRIZE

Every year, they receive hundreds of nominations from around the world for the Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize. Nominations for the Hilton Humanitarian Prize are open year-round. The Prize year for which the organization will be considered is determined by when we receive the organization’s nomination.

ELIGIBILITY:

Nominees must be organizations, not individuals.

Nominees must be established, nongovernmental, publicly supported charitable organizations. U.S. Internal Revenue Service tax-exempt status—or the equivalent for international organizations—will determine eligibility. (International nominees will be contacted by the Foundation for appropriate documentation.)

Nominees must be legally established for at least five years in order to be considered.

Nominees must have their own audited financial statements for at least five consecutive years.

Nominees must have expenditures greater than U.S. $750,000 in their most recent audited fiscal year of operation.

Nominees may not be a Hilton Humanitarian Prize Laureate or a local office or member organization of a Prize Laureate.

Nominees may not be local offices or member organizations of parent organizations or fiscally sponsored organizations.

Nominees may not be specific programs within organizations or university-based projects.

Nominees may not be academic institutions, such as colleges or universities that provide educational degrees, however, nominees may be an affiliate of academic institutions so long as they maintain an independent tax-exempt status, or equivalent for international organizations, and produce their own audited financials.

2025 Prize: January 2024 – April 30, 2024
2026 Prize: May 1, 2024 – April 30, 2025
2027 Prize: May 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026

UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE FACULTY OF ARTS GRADUATE COURSEWORK CONFERENCE GRANTS

The Faculty of Arts offers a limited number of conference grants to graduate coursework students in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (GSHSS). Up to $500 is awarded for local conferences, up to $1000 for interstate conferences, and up to $2000 for overseas conferences.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

have been invited to attend the conference (this should be in the form of an invitation to all students in a University of Melbourne degree program by the organisation convening a conference) and/or will be presenting at the conference (confirmation must be provided)

demonstrate that the conference content is relevant to the student’s current program of graduate coursework study (to be determined by the Course Coordinator)

agree to report (in writing or in person) to your academic school on content relevant to the conference upon your return

have completed at least 37.5 points and a semester of study at the University of Melbourne in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences towards the degree to which the conference is relevant

agree to provide a copy of your receipts for the relevant approved expenditure (conference registration, air fares, accommodation)

BENEFIT:

Up to $500 is awarded for local conferences, up to $1000 for interstate conferences, and up to $2000 for overseas conferences. The amount awarded will correspond to a percentage of the documented conference registration, travel and accommodation costs.
