FLEMISH MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING HASSELT UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS INCOMING STUDENTS

The Flemish Ministry of Education and Training awards various scholarships for students from around the world for master’s programmes in Flanders and Brussels.

ELIGIBILITY:

The applicant should have a high standard of academic performance: 

A Grade Point Average of 3.5 out of 4.0: www.scholaro.com/gpa-calculator/

A good knowledge of the English language and the applicant can provide proof thereof that is no older than 3 years at the time of application processing by the higher education institution (April 2026):

An overall band score of min. 7.0 on the IELTS test;

A min. total score of 94 on a TOEFL test;

A C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference;

Or similar results in another official English language test (recognized by UHasselt);

online language tests of IELTS and TOEFL will also be accepted.

Only students who are currently not enrolled at a Flemish higher education institution are eligible (exception: international students who are enrolled in a preparatory programme in order to start a master’s programme in September).

The student has to be accepted by UHasselt to be able to receive the scholarship. Even if the decision to accept the student is taken after the selection of the Master Mind Scholarships programme, this criterion applies.

Students who enroll for only a preparatory programme, a bridging programme or a distance learning programme are not eligible.

All nationalities (except for Russian) can apply, but the previous degree obtained should be from a higher education institution located outside Flanders.

Students can not combine this scholarship with another scholarship from the Flemish government or an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.

BENEFIT:

The Scholarship includes a grant of €10,225 and a tuition fee waiver per academic year (60 ECTS)

BRAIN BUILDERS YOUTH DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE NATIONAL TERTIARY INSTITUTION ESSAY COMPETITION : AI LITERACY & RESPONSIBLE TECHNOLOGY USE

The Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI) invites students from tertiary institutions across Nigeria to enter a national essay competition on AI literacy and responsible technology use. This is an invitation to think critically, argue clearly, and contribute your perspective to one of the most important conversations shaping Nigeria’s future.

This competition is part of BBYDI’s AI Literacy for Everyday People in Nigeria project, supported by the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation. BBYDI is a youth-led Nigerian nonprofit and a leading voice on AI literacy, digital rights, and responsible technology use in Nigeria and across Africa

ELIGIBILITY:

Your essay should be grounded in the Nigerian context and demonstrate critical thinking, ethical awareness, and a practical understanding of how AI affects real people and communities. You may approach the theme from any angle, but your argument must be specific and well-evidenced, not a general overview of AI.

To be eligible, you must:

Be a current student at a recognised Nigerian tertiary institution (university, polytechnic, college of education, college of technology, monotechnic, school of nursing, or other diploma-awarding institution) with a verifiable student ID

Be between 18 and 30 years old

Submit an original, previously unpublished essay

Grant BBYDI the right to publish, excerpt, or reference your essay, with attribution, in its publications, learning resources, impact reports, and advocacy materials
