ALLAN GRAY CENTRE FOR AFRICA ENTREPRENEURSHIP (AGCAE) PHD AND MASTERS SCHOLARSHIPS

The  AGCAE is currently accepting applications for its full-time, funded doctoral and masters research programmes. Applications will be considered for the PHD and Masters scholarship opportunities

ELIGIBILITY:

A candidate must meet the minimum criteria for admission to a PhD programme at Stellenbosch University. This requires a master’s degree in a relevant discipline for PhD applications.

A candidate must meet the minimum criteria for admission to a Master’s programme at Stellenbosch University. This requires an honours degree in a relevant discipline for Master’s applications.

The scholarships are open to South African citizens and African foreign nationals. Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged South African and African foreign national citizens.

Candidates must have achieved a minimum mark of:

70% in their master’s programmes to be eligible for the AGCAE Doctoral Scholarships.

70% in their honours’ programmes  to be eligible for the AGCAE Master’s Scholarships.

Only applications in one of the AGCAE’s 2023 AGCAE research themes will be considered.

BENEFIT:

AGCAE Doctoral Scholarships: Full-time doctoral scholarships valued at R250 000 per year for three years.

AGCAE Master’s Scholarships: Full-time masters scholarships valued at R150 000 per year for two years.

SHAKIRA CHOONARA YOUNG AFRICAN SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

The Shakira Choonara calls for application for all final year bachelor, honours, masters and doctoral students who require support for 2023 tuition fees in any Institution in Africa. The scholarship is an investment in young people a thriving Africa and African excellence. Young women and youth from marginalized populations are strongly encouraged to apply.

ELIGIBILITY:

Youth between the ages of 21-35 years-old

The applicant must be a citizen of any of the 54 African states

The applicant must be in the final year of studies (undergraduate or postgraduate) at an African university

Demonstrate financial need i.e. require the scholarship to settle final year tuition fees in order to complete their academic degree

A proven track record of academic excellence

BENEFIT:

The Shakira Choonara Young African Scholarship Award will be awarded each year to a deserving final year student at either the undergraduate or postgraduate level (Honors, Masters, PhD). The scholarship supports final year tuition fees for a disadvantaged student.
