BU SPORT GRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP AT BOURNEMOUTH UNIVERSITY

The BU Sport Scholarship is available to high-level sporting athletes coming to study at either the undergraduate or postgraduate level at BU. The scholarship is designed to provide funding you may need to develop your sporting abilities and take them to the next level.

ELIGIBILITY:

For courses starting in September 2026 and January 2027. Scholarships cannot be deferred.

Any applicant for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate course delivered at BU

Be a high-performing sportsperson and have the desire to continue to develop in the sporting arena, as well as academically.

You must demonstrate excellence in your chosen sport, and be part of a Regional, National and/or International squad and compete at that level. Student athletes receiving a scholarship will ideally represent BU in the BUCS programme (League and Individual), as well as themselves and/or their club at regional, national or international level. Individual student athletes need to be competitive with the top performers within the BUCS programme.

If you are awarded a scholarship, you will need to meet with the High-Performance Team to assess how the funds will help you throughout the year, and it will be your responsibility to commit to the following:

Attend all expected academic activities (Dual Career Support Provided)

Attend 75% of sport-specific training sessions

Attend 85% S&C sessions 

Engage with all support services offered 

Represent BU in sporting competitions whenever possible 

Provide stories of your performance activities.

BOURNEMOUTH UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP (INTERNATIONAL)

LOCATION: United Kingdom

The Postgraduate Academic Achievement Scholarship for international students is designed to recognize outstanding academic achievement. You will automatically be considered for this award if you meet the criteria

ELIGIBILITY:

For courses starting in September 2026 and January 2027. Scholarships cannot be deferred.

Any overseas applicant for either a full-time taught or part-time structured postgraduate course delivered on campus

You must have achieved a minimum of a high second-class Honours degree. Please see equivalency table for country-specific grading

Any self-funded or partially funded student.

If you are applying for a Postgraduate Diploma, distance learning course or certain professional development and Postgraduate Diploma courses taught by the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences, you will not be eligible for this award

You can receive this scholarship alongside a Sports or Music scholarship, but cannot receive any other academic award

Part-time, student-driven, and distance learning (i.e., online courses) are not eligible

Any government- or externally funded sponsored students are not eligible for BU international academic scholarships.
