CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR CORAF SCHOLARSHIPS 2025: OFFERS OF 4 DOCTORAL THESIS (PHD)

LOCATION:  Senegal

The Food System Resilience Program (FSRP) is a flagship regional investment program aimed at strengthening the resilience of the food system in West Africa, through a strategic regional approach.

ELIGIBILITY:

Be a national of one of the CORAF member countries;

Be at most 40 years old

Have a research Master’s degree related to the chosen field and theme;

Provide written and signed agreement from an academic Supervisor(s)

Have demonstrated capacity in applied research, willingness to learn and think across disciplines and professions

Have a demonstrated interest in agricultural research for development;

Be able to speak and write either French or English fluently; a good working knowledge of the other language would be an asset

Have good skills to work in a multicultural environment

Have excellent communication skills

BENEFIT:

The scholarship allowance will include:

Registration and laboratory fees;

A monthly subsistence allowance;

Field expenses including travel, surveys or labor related to research activities, acquisition of small research equipment and consumables;

International travel expenses (participation in conferences, scientific stays); and

Supervision fees.

AFRICAN PLANT NUTRITION OUTREACH FELLOWSHIP AWARD

Application Deadline:  2 September, 2024.

LOCATION: Morocco

Awards of USD $5,000 each are available to two innovative African scientists, extension specialists, or educators. The Fellowship will support education, training, and communication programs relevant to improving the use and efficiency of plant nutrients in African agro-ecosystems.

ELIGIBILITY:

Full time scientists, extension specialists or educators working at an African NARES institution (National Agricultural Research and Extension System), university, non-profit organization, or in the private sector are eligible. Students are not eligible for this award. 

Applicants must submit a creative plan addressing knowledge gaps or needed synthesis of existing information for accelerated delivery and adoption of improved soil fertility management practices in Africa. Of particular interest is on-going research that is aligned with at least one of APNI’s high priority initiatives including: 4R Nutrient Stewardship, Nutrient and Water Management Innovations for Resilient Agriculture for African Drylands, Soil Health Nutrient Management and Diagnostics, Precision Farming, and Farmer-led On-farm Innovation. 

Evidence of partnerships and collaboration will be favourably reviewed. Female candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
