UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO WOMEN IN GLOBAL HEALTH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

This year-long fellowship is designed to advance the leadership skills of talented African women who are passionate about gender equity in global health systems.

Throughout the program, participants can expect to gain knowledge and skills in the following competencies:

Gender Equity and Intersectional Analysis: The ability to apply an intersectional and/or gender equity lens to health systems and/or health systems research.

Global Health Policy and Advocacy: The ability to work around policy development, communication, cohesion, and advocacy to address the political environment and organizational culture of health institutions.

Leadership: The ability to create a vision which empowers others, fosters collaboration, lead, guide decision-making and support diverse team members, to recognize and challenge gender inequity within their organization.

Mentorship: The ability to develop and realize their leadership potential, their skillset, recognize opportunities for change, and optimize institutional resources to promote gender equity through their work.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Women in Global Health Leadership Fellowship is aimed at persons who:

Identify as a woman

Are early career-mid career (5 – 15 years of experience in local, regional or global health work)

Have post-grad education in Public Health, Health Sciences, Health Policy and/or related fields (MA or PhD)

Work in a role that focuses on public health policy, practice, teaching and/or research

Demonstrate leadership qualities through schooling, work or community service

Reside and work in Kenya or South Africa

Are an African national

Possess fluency in English

Are able to attend a one-week (5-7 Days) in person training

Have support of their employer to be part of the program

BENEFIT:

Aside from a curriculum in global health policy, gender equity and leadership, this hybrid fellowship journey includes:

Training and workshops delivered by experts

Personalized mentorship

Guidance in the design of a leadership project

Fully funded one week in-person training (including transportation, accommodation, and meals)

Financial stipend

All participants will be expected to attend the one-week in-person training. Transportation, accommodations and meals will be provided.

Financial Support: This fellowship will provide participants with a living and family support stipend to cover lost wages, child or elder care, or other expenses to support their full participation in the program.

INTERNATIONAL ILLUSTRATION COMPETITION “ART ON CLIMATE”

Organised by Fingertips Company Limited and sponsored by Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI), the “Art on Climate” International Illustration Competition aims to raise awareness of effective strategies for combating climate change.

Launched in Spain in 2019, the “Art on Climate” competition has grown into a global movement over the past six years. What began as a regional initiative now attracts thousands of artists worldwide, with the 2024 competition receiving over 3,000 artworks from over 2,400 illustrators in more than 100 locations. This year, the competition continues its mission across the Asia-Pacific region, uniting professional artists and emerging talents to harness creativity in raising climate awareness and driving action.

ELIGIBILITY:

Any person aged 18 or above*, from any location, is eligible to participate. Aged 18 or above on 18 May 2025

Register and upload artwork: from 19 May 2025 to 31 July 2025 inclusive

Results announcement: winners will be notified by email, and results will be announced on this page by 30 September 2025

Artwork Specifications:

Must be original works relevant to the theme of the competition and submitted by participants on an individual basis.

Each participant may submit up to three illustrations and three animated videos.

The submitted illustration(s) or animated video(s) must not have been previously published or used for any other purpose, and must not have been previously awarded or currently participating in other competition selections.

Submissions must not include any signatures, words, symbols, pictures, or voiceovers (for animated videos) that identify the participants.

Each illustration or animated video must be accompanied by a short description (minimum 30 words, maximum 100 words).

Illustration Category:

The artwork(s) must be in a flat image and created in colour.

The artwork(s) can be created using any medium, including painting, computer software, and mixed media. However, artworks generated by artificial intelligence are not accepted. The use of photographs and clip art is prohibited.

Should be in A3 size (297mm x 420mm), in either horizontal or vertical format.

Must be uploaded in JPG format, with a resolution of no less than 300 dpi, and the total size of each entry should be no more than 10MB.

Animated Video Category:

The animated video(s) must be between 10 and 15 seconds long.

The aspect ratio should be either 9:16 (vertical, minimum resolution 1080X1920 pixels) or 1:1 (square, minimum resolution of 1080X1080 pixels).

Must be uploaded in MP4 or MOV format, with the total file size for each submitted animated video no more than 30MB.

Any production techniques or tools may be used, provided the work is original.

Background music is preferred and must not have any copyright issues.

Voiceovers are not allowed. Any text on the video, including but not limited to captions, subtitles, must be in English.
