2026 ZAYED SUSTAINABILITY PRIZE IN THE UAE

The Zayed Sustainability Prize is the UAE’s pioneering global award that recognises and rewards small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs), nonprofit organisations (NPOs), and global high schools with impactful, innovative, and inspiring sustainable solutions.

Innovation (40%):

Solution must be novel or significantly improve existing solutions.

Demonstrate a unique value proposition.

Exhibit technical and commercial viability.

Show evidence of potential or actual market adoption.

Impact (30%):

Demonstrate a clear positive impact on quality of life.

Address significant social, economic, technological, or environmental challenges.

Exhibit organizational resilience to potential challenges.

Demonstrate good governance and skilled personnel.

Implement fair policies.

Provide a detailed plan for effective use of prize funds.

Inspiration (30%):

Embody core values of sustainability and human development.

Reflect the legacy of Sheikh Zayed.

Inspire further sustainable and human development actions.

Influence community adoption of sustainable behaviors.

BENEFIT:

The total prize fund of US$ 5.9 million is distributed amongst six categories:

Health: US $1,000,000

Food: US $1,000,000

Energy: US $1,000,000

Water: US $1,000,000

Climate Action: US $1,000,000

Global High Schools: US $900,000, with up to US $150,000 awarded to one school from each of the six global regions.

FULLY FUNDED ITU160 GENDER CHAMPIONS

Are you a young woman doing impactful work related to digital transformation and development? Apply now to become an ITU160 Gender Champion and be part of a global movement for gender equality in digital transformation!

Through the ITU160 Gender Champions initiative, on the occasion ITU’s 160th Anniversary, the Government of Canada is partnering with ITU to bring to Geneva nine young women (ages 18–25) working in digital development and digital transformation worldwide. 

ELIGIBILITY:

ITU160 Gender Champions initiative is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (“ITU” organizer) and the support Government of Canada. By submitting your application form for participation in this initiative, you accept the present terms and conditions.

You hereby warrant that all information submitted is true, complete, and up-to-date. You represent that you are at least 18 years of age and maximum 25 years of age at the time of submitting your application form for participation in the initiative.

You represent that you are not related to any of the members of the initiative’s selection committee, and that neither you nor any members of your family (up to the third degree) are employed by the organizer. The organizer reserves the right to verify your eligibility for participation in the initiative as well as the accuracy of your submitted information.

The organizer reserves the right to in its sole discretion to disqualify you if it reasonably considers that the information you have provided and/or your submissions do not comply with the terms, instructions and guidelines provided in the initiative website the application form, as well as the present terms and conditions. By way of example, submissions which are not in English or which the organizer deem to be off topic or otherwise not in accordance with the nature of the initiative or the mission of the co-organizers are subject to disqualification.

BENEFIT:

The nine ITU160 Gender Champions will be required to attend the WSIS+20 High Level Event and 2025 AI for Good Summit from 07 to 11 July 2025. In this context, the organizer will provide the nine Champions with (i) a round-trip economy flight ticket to/from the location, (ii) health and accident insurance coverage, and (iii) accommodation and per diem subsistence allowance for the duration of the stay in Geneva.
