ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT STUFTUNG INTERNATIONAL CLIMATE PROTECTION FELLOWSHIP

Are you working academically or practically in climate protection or climate-relevant resource conservation in your home country – a non-European developing or transition country (see list of countries, PDF)? Then you are invited to apply for an International Climate Protection Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

ELIGIBILITY:

explore questions in the natural or engineering sciences or address legal, economic, health-related or societal aspects of climate change

are a citizen of a non-European developing or transition country (see list of countries, PDF) and have been predominantly living and working there

have initial experience in a leadership role and corresponding leadership skills have very good knowledge of English and/or German

BENEFIT:

a monthly fellowship of €2,170, €2,470 or €2,670 in the programme line for prospective leaders – depending on your training and career level; a monthly fellowship of €2,670 in the programme line for postdoctoral researchers

individual support during your stay in Germany

additional financial support for example for accompanying family members, for travel expenses, for full private health insurance or for a German language course

a three-week introductory event where you can connect with other climate protection fellows, visit businesses and research institutions, and attend cultural events in Germany

extensive alumni sponsorship, in particular to support long-term connections with your cooperation partners in Germany over the duration of your entire professional career

Host institutes receive a monthly allowance for research costs of 800 euros for projects in the natural and engineering sciences or 500 euros for projects in the humanities and social sciences.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR THE INITIATIVE FOR TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE IN AFRICA

The Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund (ATJLF) is pleased to announce this call to elicit proposals from civil society organizations, community-based and victim-led groups, working to advance truth, justice and reconciliation in countries emerging from conflict across Africa. This call is part of a European Union and African Union joint initiative, the Initiative for Transitional Justice in Africa (ITJA), a project launched in October 2023 and focused on the implementation of innovative transitional justice initiatives that are guided by principles and provisions of the Africa Transitional Justice Policy Framework (AUTJP) and its accompanying roadmap.

ELIGIBILITY:

Organizations will be eligible if they satisfy the following criteria:

A Registered civil society organization or community-based group operating in any of the priority African countries in this call;

Demonstrated experience in transitional justice, human rights, or related fields. · Have ongoing projects/Initiatives addressing specific needs within the scope of the call.

Must have at least three (3) staff members (including the Founder/Director)

Must have a functional bank account (corporate) in the country of operation

Must have a clearly defined operational structure – accounting processes and procedures, management structure, evidence of monthly/quarterly/semi-annual or annual financial accounting

Must be known or embedded in communities that have experienced atrocities or human rights violations and have strong connections and networks with victims, survivors and the community in which they operate.

Must already be working on human rights and transitional justice issues in the identified communities in the countries of focus

BENEFIT:

A maximum award of Fifty Thousand Euros €50,000 per grantee for qualifying CSOs/CBOs from the aforementioned countries. The exact amount of the award will be determined by the nature/scope of the proposed interventions.
