FULLY FUNDED UNITED NATIONS REGIONAL COURSE IN INTERNATIONAL LAW.

The Codification Division of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs organizes the United Nations Regional Courses in International Law for Africa, Asia-Pacific Latin America, and the Caribbean in cooperation with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the African Union, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). ELIGIBILITY:

To qualify to be considered for the Regional Courses, candidates must have a legal background with professional experience in the field of international law. Candidates must also be fluent in the language in which the Course is offered (English in 2025). The selected candidates are required to certify that they are able to attend the course in its entirety. The Regional Course accommodates up to 30 participants.

This Regional Course is open to candidates from Member States of the United Nations which are also members of the African Group.

When selecting participants for the Regional Courses, due consideration is given to the candidates’ qualifications, to the scope of their professional duties, to the relevance of the training to their professional duties, and to gender balance. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

The United Nations does not charge a fee at any stage of the application and selection process. The United Nations does not concern itself with information on candidates’ bank accounts.

BENEFIT:

For those participants receiving a fellowship, the fellowship will cover travel, accommodation, meals, medical insurance, and training materials. Fellowship recipients will also receive a modest stipend to cover other living expenses in accordance with the policies and procedures governing the administration of United Nations fellowships.

KHALIFA UNIVERSITY POSTGRADUATE AND DOCTORAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Khalifa University of Science and Technology offers postgraduate and doctoral scholarships to support qualified international students enrolled in the programs. The University reserves the right to make changes to the published scholarship benefits and conditions without prior notice.

ELIGIBILITY:

For Master’s degree programs:

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent (e.g. an upper second-class honors in a UK-style degree, from a reputable accredited institution).

A minimum quantitative score of 150 in the General Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for admission to all Master of Science programs. Applicants must attempt all three sections of the GRE.

A minimum of two referee recommendations (provided via online form).

Statement of purpose (500-1,000 words).

A minimum level of English proficiency in the form of either:

iBT TOEFL (internet-based test) score of 91 or equivalent, or

Overall academic IELTS score of 6.5, or

1550 EmSAT English score

For Ph.D programs:

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 out of 4.0 or equivalent from a reputable accredited institution (for Bachelor’s to PhD direct admission), or

Completion of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.25 out of 4.0 or equivalent from a reputable accredited institution.

A minimum quantitative score of 150 in the general Graduate Record Examination (GRE).  Applicants must attempt all three sections of the GRE.

A minimum of two referee recommendations (provided via online form).

Statement of purpose (500-1,000 words).

Research statement (500-1,000 words).

A minimum level of English proficiency in the form of either:

Medical insurance coverage for full-time international students sponsored by Khalifa University.

Mobilization and demobilization flights (between home country and Abu Dhabi) for full-time overseas international students, subject to approval.

Coverage of UAE visa application fees for full-time international students.

Commitment to work with Khalifa University or a nominated entity upon graduation for a period equivalent to the period of study. The University reserves the right for any reason not to offer the student a post after graduation.
